Subject: DSII: Firer Down Chit for Infantry Question

I asked this question last week, but only got 1 response, & I'm not sure he
understood my question. What happens when an infantry stand
with a heavy weapon (GMS/L or LAD) gets a Firer system chit? Can the
stand still fire? Since the "system" that's down in implied to be the vehicle
electronics, how does this translate to Infantry?

Thanks,

"Damnit! The Stinger's got a short. Must have been the swamp back there...
give it a little, it'll dry out."

"What the...? Oh, guys, get in position, the IAVR's jammed!"

Basically, something's broke and, given some time, it might be able to be
fixed.

I'll take a stab at it, but I'm no expert at the rules. ;-)

The way I'd interpret this is that the unit fired a dud or that the weapon
jammed and needs to be cleared (somehow). Since a 'systems down' won't allow a
vehicle to fire anything (I think not even APSW), then perhaps this could be a
reasonable explanation for infantry (weapon jammed). Thus 'systems down' on a
vehicle could imply weapons
(all of 'em ;-) are jammed, too (all of 'em?!?).

Personally I think the infantry in DS2 need all the help they can get. I'd
ignore system downs for infantry. I

On the table for chit validity doesn't it state that ALL special chits are
invalid when drawn against infantry? My take on that was that even 'Firer
down' chits were invalid.

...Invalid when drawn AGAINST Infantry...
Special chits are valid when the infantry DRAWS them, Including _Firer
Down_. This mostly represents the chance of malfunctions & dud rounds,
otherwise infantry would be the most efficient GMS/assault troops in the
game for minimum points. (No dud shots? bring on the swarm!)

Furthur to this,

Ok so I understood that even when adverse chits were drawn by the infantry
(i.e. goes against them) the chits were invalid, or have I just completely
confused this?
