Well, I just ordered some NAC 25mm PA troopers for a Champions game I am
running, and since I've read so much about SG here I just had
to order that also, then I'm in Wal-Mart waiting on my S.O. to pick
out which Lora Croft doll she wants for her desk (the PC group here all has
toys on their desks) when I spot the SW Gungans and robots in ~15mm size, now
I'm (barely) resisting getting DSII just so I can expain why I bought the Star
Wars toys.

It is all your fault, if it hadn't been for you I would be happily playing FT
and saving my money.:)

Well, actually, the Galoob stuff is probably closer to 20mm, but even 15mm is
too large for DSII. Now, I just happen to have a couple of fine boxes of
Renegade Legion tanks, 54 to a box. How can you
resist?!?!?

Just teasing. Well, I have the boxes, but not for sale for the time
being. ;->=

So is 15/20 acceptable for SG?

No, No, No, No, I have promised myself that I will finish the last few FSE
starships (including turning 3 Trieste Heavy Destroyers into
CVE's) before buying any more pewter/lead. Of course, I should
really finish the bags of 15mm orcs before moving on, but I probably
won't as I have no-one to play FR! with in Tallahassee.

Well, you COULD do DSII in 15mm, but you'd have to adjust the range thing, I
figure. However, I know several folks that swear that SGII was actually MADE
for 15.

By the way, the 15mm Friekorps I have ARE big compared to the Martian Metals
or Laserburn 15mm as several have said here. This scale thing is WAY tricky.

Now, now, these are PLASTIC, so you can just keep a watch on eBay, and pick
them up without losing ANY sleep on your promises... *snicker*

Hmmm.... If you paint the orcs with blue coats, maybe that would bring out
some competition? Name the general Gragsnak Gork Sherman? Or,
maybe give him a big cigar and fatigues, and name him Fidel? ;->=

I have some of the galoob stuff like the LVTPs and I've stood the figures up
right next to SG2 guys and they are pretty much the same height though a
little thin. But then again it varies as there's no rhyme or reason to some of
this stuff.

To tell the truth, I barely mentioned scale when I felt the fear coming over
me. Definitely the feeling of walking on land mines. Thanks for not
blowing my foot off. ;->=

You're quite right about the scale being all over on Galoob, but the small
figures seem to be in two main scales. The packs with 10 or so figs are a bit
smaller than those you find in the 'Action Fleet' sets. I'm sure there are
exceptions to that generalization.

Whether they are really 20mm and 25mm... *sigh*

Thats why they are toys and not miniatures.

right next to SG2 guys and they are pretty much the same height though a
little thin. But then again it varies as there's no rhyme or reason to some of
this stuff. The Matchbox Ospreys will hold about a squad or more (10 figs I'd
say maybe 12) in 25mm or a platoon in 15mm. (It looks like it can fit one of
those MB Bradleys).

It's kind of weird how toy companies figure out their scales (What scales?)
It's like if it fits in the package just make them the same size wherther it's
a B52 or a Sopwith camel.

BTW if I was into DS2 army building right now I see the Battlesquads is now
selling whole Merkva platoons...

Anyone need some Zamboni in 25mm? (I don't know iceworld combat engineering
equipment?) A friend of mine found some in a toy store in Puerto Rico (of all
places <grin>).

I have a whole bunch of Battlesquad stuff I use for low tech SG@, the Ferret
armored car goes right with my T2K stuff, the Zodiac boat got converted to a
hover APC for power armor and their dock is used as is on a terrain board. I
also used the Hawk Missile launcher as the Planetary Defense missile launcher
in a Sstriker! scenario. I got a bunch of plastic Hummers in a box that gave
me some neat bridges, guard houses and gate booms, the toy stuff is great as
long as you investigate HOW they will fit in with what you have. Carry that
old lead mini in your pocket so you can eye-ball it at the store!

I've got a whole FR! army of RP Medieval humans, and they are big compared to
my new Minifigs Barbarians - or compared to my GZG SG2 15mm figures.
Great figures, though.

> So is 15/20 acceptable for SG?

I think it's the best scale for SG2! We use the standard 1"=10m ground scale,
and 15mm figs make the table far less cluttered, giving a better impression of
the actual distances involved.

An FR! player too, huh? Very cool game! Just get yourself a Major Spirit;
they're not weak at all!
