> Hmm... Looks like Dean's in mid-move. Yup, the conversion is in progress and I should have a good head of steam going for the next week or two. The website on the old address (http://star_ranger.homestead.com/) should be available again tomorrow, the 5th when the new monthly bandwith limit of 1 gig resets. Nothing much will change at that address until it is gone at the end of the month so if you don't have to go there, please don't so as to keep the bandwidth usage down. It would be nice to not max out a months worth in 15 days again. All the good stuff will be back at the new site eventually so please be patient. I hope to have a shell of the site up by the end of the week and I'll give you guys the first chance to take a look-see before it is available for public viewing. I'll let you know where and when so stay tuned.

I take it that moving a website is more difficult that just copying the files? (I don't have a website myself...only dabbled a bit with Netscape's HTML editor...) Brian touched on several reasons why moving a site can be complicated. For me, I had the site on a free host using their free Site Builder program. While free and easy to use, this did cause some problems including some layout limitations. Plus the html for those pages was far from efficient and easy to read and it included such things as ads and frames that I didn't want on my new pages and I didn't want to hunt all that code down in the HTML for each page to get rid of it. I am updating the whole look and format of the site while I have the chance plus I'm using Frontpage to create the webpages. This all results in more of a 'conversion' of the pages instead of just moving the HTML files to the new server. Here is a page to look at as a preview: http://www.star-ranger.com/SD3000.htm Not all the links are working yet so don't try and get to another page from there, just send any comments you have on the look, the layoutm, and how you like it to me at this email address - dean@star-ranger.com More pages to preview hopefully tomorrow.
