I'm interested in any options also. The box says is has 36 pieces, does this
mean that there are 36 spaceships in there, or does it take more than one
piece per spaceship?

As The_Beast said, these are Silent Death one piece minis repackaged,
the same ones you get in the SD: The Next Millenium boxed set and Wings of
Death. On a price per mini basis, Wings of Death is a slightly better deal and
WoD is available at most game stores.
