I thought I had signed up for a GZG list... You know.. new rules, and
questions about existing ones?... Some how I stumbled onto a nationality
list... woops..
So how many people have planetary/system conquset rules?... ala
Prefect.. Loved that game...
Wrong list? hehehehehehe...Around here "anything" flys -- so long as
you can
relate to one of GZG's games or histories... :-)
(Sometimes discussions of future countries drift into here and now...)

Nationalism or Planetism will be just as real in the future, or some
substitute ideology (spelling?) I am sure.
But this is all just for fun. Advance apologies if accidentally hurts
someone's feelings (although anything negative hurts some people's pride no
matter what their nationality.) Just delete any more messages from
this thread (assuming it continues which is not guaranteed) - I do that
with anything by Blackheart on some other lists.

I've always found that one of the best things about this list is the
friendliness ond lighthearted attitude of the vast majority of the
participants. Even when things ramble way off-topic it seems to be taken
in good spirit, with only the occasional nudge when some people feel it has
drifted just a bit too far and some listers need to take a quick reality
check (now where's that D12...?). Flame wars are rare-to-nonexistant,
and even when we start insulting each other's national pride it's all taken
very tongue in cheek! Welcome to a happy little band of loonies from all parts
of the geographical and political spectrum who, amazingly, seem to get on well
most of the time......

Sorry, I thought that indicated you had _recently_ signed up.
What did you like about Prefect? I'm planning on putting together modular
campaign rules (so if you don't want Intel, Politics, and Economics, you can
ignore them), and we all know that "stealing from one source is plagiarism,
stealing from many sources is masterful research."
And, despite Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky, let's _not_ start a Lehrer
thread from that.

Well, the whole point of gaming is to create something that is not, and cannot
be.. taking over a system always made me feel like a Prefect.. I have all the
power of and entire armada of vessels, several million troops at my
disposal... and one punity planetary system that dares to defy my
God-given
right to do as I please... Anyway.. I especially liked the planning and
strategy involved with taking over an entire system. You had to start from
their surrender (if they were lucky enough to be presented with one) and
plan your way backward in time all the way to the ultimate desicion to give
the "green light" to invade. It is an awesome feeling seeing a plan come
together. One of the greatest things in Prefect was the quantification of your
own creations (leviathans and centurions alike)... and how they could
ultimately affect the outcome of a system invasion. Anyway.. There you go..
