I have a friend planning to run a Dirtside II session at "Winter War 28" at
Champaign, IL in Feb.

Anyone else planning on running any GZG sessions there (DS,SG,FT)? If so, it
may be kinda fun to coordinate scenarios...

I wasn't planning on running anything, but I could look into sharing hotel
space (no mass murderers need apply). Jay

I won't be at that convention, but I'm considering doing one at Cold Wars in
Pennsylvania in March. I'm curious about what you might do scenario wise.
Maybe we can give each other some ideas.

One SG-DSII linkage idea that had occurred to me recently came up when a

few of us ran a DSII fight where the objective was for some corporate
mercenaries to keep the local government from seizing an office building

as part of their nationalization policy. The gov't troops did achieve infantry
control of the town and the building, but ultimately lost the battle...

The player controling the gov't wanted to put his troops inside the building
and have the mercenaries dig him out... reasonable given that the mercs
couldn't just blow it up...

So, you could do a DSII at one table and a SG at another - the wider
battle for the area at the former and the fights in the halls of the objective
at the other. Conditions on the DSII table could influence reinforcement
availability on the SG, etc.

I know less about FT, but a forced landing of reinforcements from orbit could
be integrated into an active DSII (or SG) fight on another table.

One potential problem with this scheme is the necessary turn coordination. One
solution would be to use a turn system similar to the one used in FASA's
Prefect. For every strategic turn there were X turns for Leviathan. For every
turn in Leviathan there were Y turns for Interceptor, etc. Just something to
think about. I'd be interested to see how you integrate two simultaneous
actions. Jay

Which is actually something that I'm considering. In the background that I'm
using, the colonial rebels have a fair sized fleet which could contest the
landing of UN marines. I think that I would run the FT scenario and use the
outcome to determine how many troops hit the ground, and how much
ortillery/air support is avaible. Interesting idea...

Another scenario I'm considering is a Dirtside scenario set in deep
space...
yeah, wierd... ;)

Really though, the background that I'm using suggests conflicts in space

with marines attacking colonial outposts on airless moons and planetoids. It
would be cool to have a 3D Dirtside battle with troops running around 3D

planetoids and having dropships for close support... maybe using those
"battlepoles" that I've read about with some simple rules for 3D combat. If
you're having trouble imaging what I'm getting at- it would be something

like "Moonraker". Might be pushing the Dirtside system to the limit, but

would it be fun:)

This would be _bad_, Scott. It would encourage people to think about
the techniques for attacking planetoids and small moons. Such as 100% of the
real estate in the Alarishi Empire. Instead, let's consider techniques for
assaulting a certain prominent organization's building in New York.

There is an FMA/EFSB cross-over event happening at GZG-ECC IV this
[next] year. Come and play! :-) (okay, so it was a badly phrased
plug for the con; come anyway! details at:
