Hello: As some of you know I have recently watched the very bad "Space
Battleship Yamato." Needless to say I was not impressed. However, many of you
(as well as the More Thrust book) suggested the "Legends of the Galactic
Heros" series. I would like to know how I could get a hold of a copy (or
copies)? I will be at Gen Con this Saturday, do they usually carry Anime?

Unfortunately, Mark, to the best of my knowledge, "Legends of the Galactic
Heroes" has never been officially released here in the US.
Your only hope would be to get a copy of the Japan released video-
cassettes. Of course, these might not be too enjoyable if you don't speak
Japanese yourself. I know that some people in the US, and at least one
business, have dubbed copies of the originals and added their own subtitles.
As you can expect, the quality varies greatly.
Anyway, if you're at Gen Con check throughout the dealer's rooms. There will
probably be someone selling anime.
For more LoGH info, look at:

Legend of the Galactic Heroes WWW Info Center at

utanime/amos/.LGH/logh.html
The second site has some great.jgp images, including a whole section devoted
to battle shots. There are also music and sound bites, along with a couple
animations from the shows, scripts, and plot synopses. I'm still exploring the
Info Center.

There are several Subtitled and Un-Subtitled copies floating around. I
think
that your best bet is to get the Un-Subtitled copies as they seem to be
of a higher quality. Then grab a synopsis from somewhere on the web. I will be
getting a subtitled version soon, but I am told that the quality sucks.? Also,
I ran a LotGH "FT" game at GenCon 2 years ago, if you are interested, I will
be at GenCon on Saturday as well, and we could arrange to meet if you
would like to see/copy some of the rules/ship data.
Graciously yours, Arthur T. Braune

Sure, that would be great. I need to talk a few things over with my
girlfriend before I pick a time/place. I don't know if I want to go to
the MST3K Show at 10 in the morning or 6 in the evening. I get back to you
ASAP.

Actually, Arthur, would you mind posting some of the rules/ship data to
either the mailing list or rec.games.miniatures.misc? I'd like to see what you
came up with. Unfortunately, a lot of us won't be at GenCon this weekend.
Still, I'd be
interested in your LotGH FT game/scenario.
But, where did you come up with the thousands of minitatures to reenact the
battle for fortress planet Iserlohn? <g>

Sorry it took so long to answer.
Thanks for the info. I checked out both sites and they looked great
(especially the one with the scripts). BTW, what kind of weapons they use in
the LotGH universe?

Excellent question! I only wish I had a good answer. It's been a couple of
months since I watched my cassettes last. I would hazard to guess they use a
mixture of beam weapons and missiles. (Gee, much like in FT)
I hope you liked the battle scenes on the Info Center page.
