Subject: "WHAT THE -?"

THERE you are, sitting in your comfy chair in the orderly room, daily dump
done, coffee cup and doughuts at hand, scanning the morning report hard copy.

another day on the job, training local yokels at this remote sensor site for
one of the massive planetary defense meson gun complexes knocking down good
money and thinking about your impending retirement.

ah, the mercenary life, that is the life for me!

or so you thought until the **** hit the fan and splattered everywhere
. . . .

------------------------------------------------------

you are the NCOIC of a detachment of mercs hired by the local government to
train the local forces in the use of the planetary defense installations that
are being turned over to them by rapidly departing UN forces.

as NCOIC of the mercs, you are also wearing the hat of first sergeant in the
local militia assigned to this sensor station, advising the militia CO and
officers, and reporting to your own chain of command.

there are 24 mercs, and 60 militia assigned to the station. all have personal
weaponry, body armor, personal comms, and heated (but shielded) cold weather
clothing that allows activities outside the sensor station. the arms room (2
of them) contains support weaponry
(machineguns , anti-amor weapons, light SAMs and two light mortars that
is not mounted in the defensive bunkers topside (heavy or light
machineguns are assigned to each contin - uosly manned bunker.

the station is located in the north polar region of the planet, so it is not
exactly considered a great assignment by the local officers and troops. the
majority of the station is located deep below ground, with a perimeter fence,
retractable sensor and commo arrays, a few surface buildings and defensive
positions. there are a few vehicles assigned to the station motor pool, as
well
as two light aircraft used transport. monthly flights by larger
aricraft are for resupply and personnel transport.

------------------------------------------------------

well, you ask, exactly WHAT HAS HIT THE FAN AND SPLATTERED EVERY-
WHERE??????/

well here are some ideas...

a. the local militia rank and file has mutinied in support of an on going coup
by enemies of the lawful government. the ercs and loyalists are taken
compleely by surprise, doing wotever they were doing when the mutiny began,
and must restore order asap.

b. the installation is unexpectedly attacked by previously unkown rebel forces
in the area, light infantry with a full array of support weaponry.

c. a traitor assigned to the station has planted numerous explosive devices,
before being caught by security personnel. among the first places to be
wrecked by the bombs is the TACTICAL OPERATIONS CENTER and the station POWER
PLANT. auxiliary power plant has been damaged and will take hours to repair.
you must find and prevent the other bombs from going off!

d. a traitor assigned to the station has released a fast acting and deadly
disease into the lifesupport system, infecting some of the personnel with "the
bug". the bug causes victims to run amok after 48 hours of fever and chills.
only 1 person in four is not effected by "the bug" for unkown reasons, and it
is up to them to survive and bring the station back on line asap! (the first
amoks have burst from their sick beds and are running wild, right now!

e. a routine patrol is missing and long overdue? what does this mean?

f. a routine patrol has located the wreck of an alien spacecraft, buried in
the ice for only God knows how long. sevral of the troops that entered were
injured and returned to the station for medical treatment...LOL, can you guess
wot appens next??????

g. a "MAYDAY" has been recieved by the duty watch in the TOC. the
distress signal is from a civvie oil drilling operation abour 250 clicks away.
details are confusing but the civvies need rescue and medical help asap!

h. same as g. above except the MAYDAY is from a scientific expedition..

i. a really nasty mix of any of the above suggested plot lines!

Ghurkas? SAS? Power Armored Royal Marines?
