> What does the acronym FMA mean or stand for? Full Metal Anorak. Obviously a pun on Full Metal Jacket, an Anorak (for the benefit of non-UK members) being a nasty zip-up hooded weatherproof jacket (usually nylon and in unpleasant colours such as snot green) much loved by hikers, ramblers, trainspotters and other individuals perceived as "sad" by the majority of Joe Public. As many wargamers fall into this category as well (at least to the public perception), and at least some of us being able to take a joke even at our own expense, the Anorak has become a traditional symbol of the hobby.... <grin>

In a similar way to which Anime fans (both in Japan and the West) happily refer to themselves as "Otaku" despite the term originally having very negative connotations (obsessive etc.) to the "normal" Japanese. Blue and orange anoraks are the province of ramblers... real wargamers wear brown or snot green ones, accompanied by ill-fitting jeans (often with Builder's Cleavage in the back, though thankfully not used in this case as the traditional parking place for this morning's copy of The Sun), plus the archetypal NHS specs repaired with a bit of sticking plaster.... ;-) Not that we're stereotyping, of course... :-)

Or how about a silver-coloured one with the FMA logo on it? Then we could both wear and play our Full Metal Anorak.:o) God bless, - Buddy --------------------------------------------- Get paid for surfing the Web! (I'm dead serious!) www.alladvantage.com Referral #: BXL-474

G'day guys, > the Anorak has become a traditional symbol of the hobby.... <grin> Oh great so yesterday I was a nobody and today I'm informed I don't even have the basic qualifications for the hobby!;) No wonder women don't wargame! Then again maybe a heap of them do, its just that something like Terry Pratchett's theory on dwarf sexuality applies... now that is a TRULLY scary thought!!;) Cheers Beth
