"The airwar over Germany in WWII is very interesting. Each side continually developed tactical and equipment counters, counter counters, counter counter counter, etc. Do not assume that future opposition will be as incompetent as the Iraqi's or as outnumbered as the Serb's. By the way, how many months did it take build up the assets in Iraq to crush them so easily? 4 to 5 months, if I remember correctly." Because of the weakness of the USSR at the time NATO (Read the USA with a few hangers on) was able to transport and use basicly anything it wanted without worrying about secondard theatre's. So some the most sophisticated and expensive equipment in the world designed to fight the Armoured Juggarnaut of a nuclear armed Superpower, was moved under near ideal conditions then prepared for use against a small country with a mainly conscript military surrounded by enemys and with lots of lovely flat open terrain that it is very hard to hide, especially resup units which HAVE to move. Just think of it in the terms of one of those FT futuristic fleets turning up over North America and Orillerying it until not a powerstation, comunications center, military base or missle silo was left standing. Then thinking about landing ground forces thats about what happened in both cases. Buck
