Hi all,
I've just had a request from Andrew Hubback, the Editor of Miniature
Wargames magazine - he's got an article going to press fairly soon
for which he needs some starship pictures - ideally ones of minis
photoshopped onto realistic starfield backgrounds, though really
nice shots of well-painted minis in an actual game situation would be
OK too. Now, I have some of these from the starship painting contest I ran a
few years back, but several of those have already been used in
magazine articles and Andrew wants some new/different ones if at all
possible.
The only brief I have from Andrew is this:
"They would need to be as large a file as possible for print
publication - 300dpi.
It's for an scenario article - basically the Malta convoys of WW2 set
in space."
So, I'm throwing out an urgent request for help - do any of you have
anything that might suit, preferably GZG FT ships of course, already
done - and which you wouldn't mind being used in a magazine article?
There won't be any payment, I'm afraid, but I will do my best to get
a painting/photo credit put on them - though I can't promise even
that, as it's in the hands of the publisher. At least there would be the
satisfaction of seeing your work in print!
This needs to be sorted within a couple of days at most, so I'm not
asking anyone to paint or photograph anything specially for it - just
asking if you have anything already in your picture files?
Please email me directly (jonATgzgDOTcom) if you can help! :-)
Thanks,

Hi Jon, I have a few shots that I've put up on Flickr so you can see if
they're what you're looking for:

In particular this one:

They're not photoshopped with a background, but the table is painted with a
starry background pattern.
Let me know if any of those will work - I can send you higher resolution
versions.
Also I can try and take some more tonight of some of my other ships.

Oops, sorry should have read that closer. Meant to send that directly to Jon,
not the whole list.

No need to apologize, Randy. We appreciate the view. That is some very nicely
painted Neu Swabian space debris.:)
The gumshoe beat me to it (sorry, in archaic Amera-English, Seamus is a
nickname for police detectives. ;->= ).
I was going to so reply the minute I saw Randy's post, but got sidetracked.
RL. *sheesh*
Actually, while the suggested images are excellent, I think with a bit of
cropping, and if possible, a bit of fuzzing, the ones with the laser sighting
might do very well.
Love the glow on the rock.

OK, I've had some pics in from a few folks, just a last call for anyone else
who can help? This evening I'll have to send Andrew whatever I have by then,
for him to choose from.
Ta,

Thanks, I've just added a couple more of my U.N. fleet.
Someday I need to finish painting my ESU fleet so that I can post pictures of
it as well.
BTW, the "laser sighting" is a Zircon LaserBall 360 - its made to be a
laser
level but its awesome for line of sight - it makes a straight laser line
across the entire table - perfect for checking if anything even slightly
block LOS. And it looks cool on the table.

Well, Randy, a lot of my fellow players would be all 'get a rope' at the
suggestion of using laser pointers or periscopes, so we'll just leave it at
the 'looks kewl'. ;->=
Me, I need all the crutches I can get. I'd be using the laser every time I
make a course adjustment to be sure I was exact in rotation of the figure
base.

We don't pull out the laser until there's a disagreement as to whether the
edge of an asteroid blocks line of sight or not, and it just to make sure that
its fair. Especially for the given scenario, the UN superdreadnaught was
trying to use the asteroid for cover while its systems came back online.
Oh yeah, forgot the link to the new pictures before:

OK, so when are we going to see a prototype for the anti-grav flight
stand? Come on now, get inventing! ;-)

OK, thanks to those of you who managed to get some pics over to me at such
short notice!
I had four responses with a total of about a dozen pics, so I've just sent all
of them over the Andrew and he'll choose which he thinks are most suitable for
the magazine.
Thanks again! :-)
