I've read references to several powers not in the official Full Thrust
Universe but still tied to it. Would anyone else be interested in getting
detailed descriptions of these other powers than me? I'm in the process of
developing my own that will fit in the Full thrust chronology based on
Pharonic Egypt.
Well, I've always thought that an independent, rich and moderately powerful
Japanese Empire would be interesting. Instead of such close ties with the NAC,
relations remained cordial. They invested heavily in the Guildenstern
Foundation's FTL research, and it paid off in spades; first FTL drive
patent, licensed manufacture, etc. They wouldn't have a monopoly - but
they would have built their economy on it, and then branched out.
Expansionist Indonesia & China give reason to rearm - I can see clashes
all over the Western Pacific over resources between the Indonesian
Commonwealth, the Japanese Empire, and the Oceanic Union. A full
write-up
is in the works.
Speaking of the Japanese, surely there must be one nipponophile on the list
that will elevate them to superstar status with their own fleet!

Actually, I invented a universe based loosely on the Russo-Japanese War
of
1904-5. One side were the Imperial Tsarists, and the other was the
Nipponese Shogunate. One of the projects I have in the hopper is to update the
ship
designs to FT2.5/3. No fighters in this game universe (yet!), but lots
of little destroyers...
On a related note, I think I've got a good set of rules for Full Steam
(pre-dreadnought game based on FT) ironed out. I still have to do some
playtesting, though...

<Shameless self-promotion>
Well, at
http://www.angelfire.com/va/basileus/Rhomaioi.html
you will find the work I've done towards fleshing out my unofficial
civilization (based on the only Civilization worth squat before the Italian
Renaissance, not that I'm biased or anything). Major update to
the page is finished and will be uploaded tonite--I've got the planets
and themes organized.

Their fleet, of course, consists of old Wet Navy ships refitted with nova

Alarishi Empire: star system with no habitable planets. Asteroid habitats
around a bright (B or A) star. You may start your own culture by claiming a
rock and defining your rules; the Imperium doesn't care (and will not bail you
out if your rules don't work. Social Darwinism at its finest).
Imperial Citizens can be tried by Imperial law instead of local law, if they
wish; and there can be no barriers to emigration. Aside from that, anything
goes. Cultures include the Knights Templar, the Commune, the Physics Lab,
Lesbos, Mike's Harem, and others. The Emperor is in charge of a) international
affairs including defense; and b) protecting those who pay for Imperial
citizenship instead of just local citizenship.

We haven't heard from the Tsarists or the Shogunate for quite a while. The new
arcs rules in FTFB should allow your designs to shine as they are intended
with the broadsides.
Are you planning any new fiction or games with that universe?
