As far as I understand it the UN does have its own fleet. In time of crisis
national units may be placed under UN control and slotted into their
organisation. This would suggest that the peacetime UN is very top heavy, with
far more brass and REMFs than would be required for its fleet size. The
problems would be legion, logistics, C^3I, NSL captains refusing to take
orders from the FSE commadore, the FSE refusing to take orders from anyone...
The way that I see it is that the UN would have its own fleet but I don't
think that they would suffer too many problems with national tension. The
version of the UN that I have written up works around the idea that only the
best get to work in the UN. Just a little thought

Slim, I really like idealists.
Science Fiction has a basis in reality, Fantasy does not have that
restriction.
:-)
Bye for now,
I've got a UN fleet that I was going to paint up and use for demos, but I just
don't have the time, and so thought I'd see if anyone here was interested.
I've got an SDN, Light Carrier, and a variety of escort vessels from heavy
cruisers on down. Some have been assembled and mounted on bases, but none are
primed or painted. If anyone's interested, contact me directly and I'll email
you a complete list along with asking price (which'll be significantly below
retail!).
Thanks,
I'm game--asuming they havn't sold already.
Sorry--wrong place and sent before i had finished reading my mail.
Please ignore.
