We just got the U.N. Figs for SGII in at our shop, and I see that they are
armed with "IPW's". From what I vaguely remember hearing somewhere, these are
"Infantry Plasma Weapons", right? Apparently, the
U.N.
is operating at a slightly higher tech level than everyone else, and so
their armor/equipment is markedly better. The standard infantry
hardsuit, for example, is equivalent to everyone else's Light Power Armor.
Anyway, the point of this is: does anyone out there have some kind of stats
for the U.N. weapons? If there are none (and probably even if there are), I'll
feel free to make up my own, but I'd kind of like to see what other people
would suggest first. Anybody?

One other thing, while I'm thinking on it: didn't someone say that 25mm
Kra'vak figures are out? We probably won't see them in the States for quite
some time; what do they look like, anyway? I want some DIFFERENT
aliens! I'm tired of space orks/elves/halflings, all those damned
anthropomorphic animals, and the "Alien" clone of the week! Will these make me
happy?

PPG stands for Portable Plasma Gun, while APW stands for Anti-Personnel
Weapon (standard issue rifle for Power Armored troops). Chances are, if the
U.N. troopers are in Light Power Armor, that "IPW" is really "APW". I don't
think they are all issued Plasma Guns (see the Infantry Weapon Technology
section on page 28).

The UN & Kra'Vak figures were released in Australia at the same time
(about 1 week ago) - the IPW is an Advanced assault rifle (as far as I
can tell) and the Kra'Vak are "Predator" clones (and very good looking
figures at that) - they include a mix of rifles, missile launchers and
heavy weapons at the moment, and I am assured that there will be a great many
others soon.

Hope this helps

Eureka Miniatures in Victoria is the supplier - Nick Robson runs a mail
order distribution business at Eureka Miniatures 10 Woorayl Street, Carnegie,
Victoria 3163 (03) 9568 4085

No Fax, so phone or mail orders only - 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday

Tell him where you heard about it... maybe he might consider coming into
the 20th century :-)

I know about Eureka, have for a little while... was hoping for the details of
some other place that had better (ie longer, ie more accessable)
hours... :)

As I found out today, when I went to go visit and arrived to find the place
closed. <sigh>

<gasp> You mean... staying open a bit later to cater for those people for whom
"late night shopping" is a way of life?;)

Hee Hee - Nick is a great guy, but relies on mail/phone orders for his
business, which operates on very irregular hours (and keeps his
overheads down) - as far as I know he has exclusive rights to the
figures.

Nick will be attending Cancon 97 in Canberra (January) and will be
demoing FT + SGII as well as displying the figures - maybe you can
corner him and "discuss" things (perhaps will the judicious aid of a broken
bottle <BIG GRIN>).

The best place to get Stargrunt or Full Thrust miniatures in Australia is from
Eureka Miniatures

10 Woorayl Street, Carnegie Victoria 3163 Ph: 03 95684085

They stock a full range of miniatures for both games at excellent prices. And
do an excellent mail order service.
