I went to a Super K-Mart over lunch and found a new 55 piece military
playset (Combat Zone) on sale there for only $10.

All vehicles are dark green hard plastic with moving parts. All scale
references are to 28mm. Included are:

1. Military semi towing Patriot launcher (slightly underscale) which has a
button that makes dorky laser sounds. Comes with a full load of four missiles.

2. Stationary vertical missile launcher with very large two-stage
missile and various accessories. Probably very underscale, but still
interesting.

3. M-60A? MBT w/enclosed MG cupola. Fairly nice, just about right for
28mm.

4. HMMV w/removable cargo section cover. Also includes a fairly nice
pintle-mounted M2HB HMG. Slightly oversized but not bad.

5. Various outsized soldiers, probably useless.

6. An assortment of very nice road signs and barricades.

7. Barrels, road cones (way too big), rocks, 3-piece sandbag barricade,
5+ piece interlocking brick wall (don't know what that's supposed to be
for)

8. An M60-based BRIDGE LAYER!!! (When's the last time you saw one of
those. In scale with the tank.

9. Ammo boxes, jerry cans (big), barbed wire fence sections, and other STUFF
(I don't have it in front of me.

Everything is dark green and marked U.S. Army with slightly cheesy stickers.
Fortunately, these look like they will fall off even without help.

Just a friendly tip for those of you who are looking for cheap models.

I picked up some of that stuff too, two ver usable bridges with guard posts
and barricades (hinged to go up and down). The guard post looks more like a
privvy, but who knows. All I found were various HMMWV variations - no
tank,
bridge layer or missile launchers - but I got a good tariler Hawk
launcher
(three rail) with Battle Squad stuff - they also make a zodiac style
inflatable (which makes a great base for building a hover fighting vehicle)
and a perfectly scaled Ferret armored car. The tanks in the line are more
like 1/24th and about useless (unless you happen to be into WH40K drek,
which I am not.)

That's different than the one I got.

I painted these rocks and used them in my Charlie Company scenario at WarFaire
a few weeks ago. No one seemed to notice that they were part of a $10 kids set
that I bought at KMart.

This looked great after I dry brushed it.

> 5+ piece interlocking brick wall (don't know what that's supposed to

Yeah, I don't know either, but you know what, this came out to look the
best of all the pieces. I mostly game Charlie Company (Vietna-era
infantry) so I guess I'll use them for a Tet scenario.

> 9. Ammo boxes,

These, too, looked great once I painted them.

All in all, it was a good investment for the $10. I got some cheap accessories
and my kids have the cheesy looking soldiers and vehicles. Actually, I've been
giving them out piece meal. Everytime my three year old wants to "help" me
while I'm painting my figs, I just give her another piece from the set and
shuffle her off to play. We're all happy.
