Well, just think of the neat tactical uncertancies it would bring to a game.
Are you really in a solar system? Or are all those planets and moons, just one
HECK of an ambush......

As Luke says to Han, "Well, more than you can imagine!"

I seem to recall that the Planet Killers from greg Bear's
_Anvil of Stars_ used a solar system as an ambush site. That
did sort of involve anti-matter planets, and dropping large
masses of neutronium into the primary star though to set off a supernova...
(one situation where neutrinos become a practicle weapon of war!)

That's no moon, it's a - uh, sorry :)

One the biggest weapons of mass destruction (pun intended) I've seen was from
the anime 3 part series Gunbuster. The alien race which used suns to hatch its
young greatly outnumbered the humans so the humans started using devices which
created black holes to destroy their fleets. The final episode dealt with the
humans converting the planet Jupiter into a black hole bomb and taking the
bomb into the heart of the alien race. The bomb ended up destroying a large
portion of the galaxy. Talk about extremes.
The series is worth watching if you get a chance. Note the series does contain
parody elements that you may not understand.

That's actually true. About one and a half hours before there is any
noticeable change in the star that's going supernova, there is a neutrino
burst that's lethal out to something like the orbit of Pluto.
So all those episodes of Star Trek where Captain Whoever escapes from being
obliterated by a supernova by getting the warp engines online at
the last minute--wrong--they were dead over an hour ago and the
neutrinos will just slip right through the shields. So much for
dramatic license--just enjoy the show.
Still that would be an interesting weapon. Might make a good FT
raid/defend scenario.

Impressive. However, the biggest weapon of mass destruction I've ever seen was
in Steve Baxter's RING.
The Photino Birds were throwing entire *galaxies* at the Ring that the Xeelee
were building. Of course, the Ring was pretty big as well, its name in
astronomical circles is "The Great Attractor".
The Xeelee fought back with cosmic string segments, in closed loops in
complicated harmonic shapes. These would disrupt the onrushing galaxies by
gravitaional attraction.
