While you have a valid point, we are talking about space here not about
walking through a mountain pass or Jungle. How are enemy ships going to know
where my jump points are, they could be anywhere in open space. I would also
point at that earth bound colonization often had no set "master plan"
rationalization to it also. Look at Africa or islands in the Pacific. People
grabbed at wherever they alnded, then carved out niches for themsleves where
ever they were.

Look at Portuguese colonization. Brazil, A few stops in Indian right in the
middle of Brit owned land. A spot or two on the Chinese Miainland. Three
seperate and unconnected tracks of land (2 very huge) in Africa.

I picked LTT1583 becuase it's an actual place. Is there an actual star at
thecoordinates you have given?

If we were talking about a Universe where there are jump points ala starfire
that's one thing. but I've always found drawing boundry lines in space to be
kind of funny.

I may have misunderstood in that I thoiught you were saying ships could be
ambushed ON THE WAY to any given planet. That I found virtually impossible,
but of course a world stuck "out there" has a problem. 201 LY is how many days
travel 20 days at 2 jumps a day. It is a long way.

I'm not averse to changing the location. I can change the star pretty easy in
the story. Can you gen upa real star somewhere near the rim? Is NSL space
anywhere "coreward" where the KV are coming from.

Well if Eradani is only 20 LY outside of normal NSL space then I'll let it
stand. That's a two day jump (maybe less in an emergency), which is
not bad for a system whith such vital mineral resources as R-Hafen's.

I was afraid of that. I'll do a quick remake of the map.

You see, the large map I did was in equatorial
co-ords. The x-y plane is the plane of the
earth's equator. It has absolutely
