Subject: Tonk Weapons

Alright all,

I am facing a problem with the Tonk. How to stat up their weapon?

Because of overall toughness of the aliens and the availability of these OOP
minis numbers will likely be fewer on the battlefield. Also, their weapons,
like them, are goliath when compaired to those of humans and even Kra'vak.

How do you all handle alien weaponry. I know the core rules don't really work
well for whole squads armed with support level weapons, but that's what the
Tonk weapons would equate to. Heck, one of their rifles is almost the size of
a man.

I was thinking of basing their weapons technology off of explossive gyrojet
munitions.

I'm stuck. I don't want to be cheesy, but I want to do them justice.

Ah yeah..I'm callign the weapons Throttle Guns. It just sounds cool..;)

Eli,

Are you sure the Tonk weapons need to be more powerful then other races
weapons? I do not follow the size equals power school of thought so I believe
size should not be the only way power is judged on a figure.

I have a match grade.22 that is quite large and heavy looking. I also have a
compact 9mm that is quite small. When side by side the.22 "looks" more
powerful, but the "larger" is by no means the more "powerful" weapon.

Maybe the Tonk have built frames that fit their size. Maybe the Tonk use lower
tech gauss weapons and the size includes the batteries, capacitors, or what
ever. Bottom line is, if you are worried about "Cheese" then do not try and
make new rules. Come up with fluff that explains the size.

        Just an ides/opinion.

                Daniel

Actually, this was my first line of thinking. The Tonk would simply not be
able to carry a rifle that is the size of a person's.

Sorry if I missed part of this, but didn't you get a suggestion of simply
running them as PA? With PA-available weapons?

As an aside, I'd like to point out that there seemed two copies of your note,
though, on closer inspection, only one actually had a reply from you.
I'm assuming a mis-clicked button. With recent happenings, some of us
are
gun-shy. ;->=

Geeze, Daniel, if you had been a week earlier, I'd have been warning you of
the Ides of March.

Eli, sounds like some PSB-jargon. 'Johnny, hand me the interdimensional
spanner that I may callign the Throttle Guns...'

Sorry, guys, but if you look hard, you'll find misspelling in almost every
note I send. EVERYTIME I try to spell weapon, I have to back space over
weopen. *sigh*
