Has GZG considered publishing suppliments for say, SGII for use in other
settings or historical periods other than the Tuffleyverse?

Its not their bag man - they can't even keep up with demand in their own
'verse, plus there are lots of copyright issues with other 'verses. That's why
its really a fringe fan thing to produce the genre backgrounds such as Aliens,
Star Wars, Starship Troopers etc.
The only other official non GZG background product to date is the EFSB, and
its likely to stay that way.

playtest list for FB.
However, Tim's right; they've got enough trouble keeping up with everything
happening in their own universe.

This is about the size of it. Other genres/backgrounds are really (at
the
moment, at least) the domain of fan-designed unofficial stuff, of which
there is LOTS on the net. The fact is, we're primarily a miniatures
manufacturer, with the rule
writing and publishing side very definitely a small offshoot - while the
"big" boys like GW, Target/Heartbreaker etc. can devote entire
departments to the publishing side, we are two people doing EVERYTHING, and
the
day-to-day running of the miniatures production and sales (not to
mention all the admin, paperwork, reading emails etc) keeps us more than busy
enough......
Keep buying LOTS and LOTS of our stuff, and just maybe someday we can afford
to employ someone to run all the admin and business side, while I get on with
designing rules and publishing them.... <grin>

Okay, let's divvy it up. I'll take FMA: Battlegroup, for operations on a
solar-system scale.
DN=d12, BB = d10, CA=d8, CL=d6, DD(squadron)=d4
I can also contribute to Full Metal Codpiece: the FMA Fantasy system. We may
have to define "Fantasy" carefully, if we use this name, or else make another
production run of the Gentlemen's Collectibles.

People have mentioned the licenses needed for other settings, but little has
been mentioned on the historical side (and I don't think you have to license
WW2 ;).
A historical supplement (or call it a sourcebook) for SGII and DSII might be a
cool thing. It could consist of the few rules modifications needed and then
stats for the vehicles and troops in each era (WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Modern, etc)
and maybe some scenarios. Jon could spend his time with other things (FB2)
while someone else worked on this project and Jon would approve the results
instead of writing it all himself. When done, it would be published by GZG.
This is just a idea. I don't know if Jon would even think about having someone
else write a supplement for one of his games (though this one would not impact
his Tuffleyverse).
Yeah, this is more of what I meant... I was curious if GZG has ever thought of
publishing sumitted suppliments after they review and approve them. The
advantages to the writer are GZG's existing rules systems and GZG's existing
distribution channels and contacts.

P.S. And of course the writer would need to make sure he wasn't violating any
licenses before GZG would allow it to go, I'm sure...

well, that and "Slammin' the Dirt":
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Station/3565/slammin-the-dirt.html
which is a DS2 patch for doing "Hammer's Slammers" battles, written by
Tuffley-san.
