I agree! August would be better than October or November. I would love to go
to Canada again. My wife and I spend about every 3rd year at Niagara Falls and
ALWAYS stay on the Canadian side. The people are SO nice.

Hey that sounds cool. I would certainly like to make it to a second GZG Easct
Coast convention. However I must agree with Drew M Losos
<losos@ecf.utoronto.ca> October is a bad time. I would think a good time to
visit Canada might be August when the US is hot and unpleasant and Canada
might be merely pleasantly warm.

If you come up here in August you better bring your long woolen
underwear,mukluks and hockey skates.

BEST, spake thusly upon matters weighty:

> If you come up here in August you better bring your long woolen

Pahh. In Canada, you should ALWAYS have your skates. As for woolen
underwear, you don't need that until mid-December. What are you, some
southern sissy? Now Mukluks are just a good fashion statement.

And don't forget, bring some monopoly money. There is a better than even
chance that it will be the right colour, and might (on any given
day) be worth more than the Canadian $ - which is great for US
tourists.

August is summer, and I'm sure august is when most people book holidays with
family (esp if they have kids). Late September (3rd weekend?) is still
reasonable fall weather (no snow if this year is a guide). I know I'm tied up
in the Softball team I captain in August, as well as the Hope Beach Volleyball
tournament, etc. etc. Plus all the kids will be getting ready for back to
school. So I'm thinking late September... Besides....its an extra month to get
organized...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahaha, hahahahaha, chuckle, chuckle!!!!

Sorry about that, I couldn't resist. Toronto's average temperature in August
is in the low 80s fahrenheit (low 30s celsius). We often get humidex readings
pushing it into the 40s (90s). Toronto gets stinky hot in the summer since it
sits right on top of Lake Ontario. Add to this the fact that we get Ohio
Valley pollution pushed right up to us. We'd KILL for it to be just pleasantly
warm. Trust me; I have asthma, I know. Ontario (and much of habitable Canada)
has a rather nasty dichotomy of temperature zones: it's classed as subarctic
in the winter and subtropical in the summer. Except for British Columbia
(which is pleasantly warm, if wet, all year).

By the way, I went out to Boston in 1993 (loved the city!) for NecronomiCon.
Boston was a cool respite from the heat wave we were having back home that
year.

However, your comments are duly noted. Mid to late September is when Toronto
gets "pleasantly warm" and is a bit further back from October. You don't want
to push into November as November weather in Toronto is unpredictable.

Hmm. Toronto's pretty hot and unpleasant much of the time in summer (that's
subjective of course... It's pretty humid here.)

Also sprach Barclay

My note was to 'mericans, any good Canuck knows this already. If bringing
Monopoly money make sure you use the standard or Canadian editions and not the
Star Wars edition. That might raise some eyebrows.

David

ps. My comment about driving from Ottawa to Toronto was that I will already be
going to Council Fires convention in October (an annual ocurrence) and I don't
know if I can swing two trips so closesly together.
