Again, I must beg of you folks...
PLEASE REPLY TO INDIVIDUALS WHEN IT IS ONLY OF INTEREST TO THAT INDIVIDUAL.
REPLY TO THE LIST WHEN IT IS OF INTEREST TO SOME REASONABLY LARGE SUBSET OF
THE LIST.
I hate to be an asshole, but I didn't subscribe to this list to see
some-
thing like 10 f-ing posts talking about the G.D. metric system in
England. I understand the curiosty of the first poster. I understand a couple
of
replies, but c'mon guys. How about something on-topic? This is
ridiculous.

not to bust your chops, but you are not in a position to determin what is and
isn't in the interests of any portion of this list. I, for one, have always
wondered why games from england use inches as the default measurement rather
then cm's. it IS a function of the game's mechanic, so it is relevant to the
topic of this list, and it would be silly to poll the entire list before
asking any question to determine if enough people are interested to ask a
question.
as with any mailing list, you must assume that there will be a certain amount
of background static. if you see that you are not interested in a topic a few
messages into it, delete all the messages on sight (that's
what I do for anything about B-5).
after all, that thread hasn't even lasted 24 hours yet...

I've got to agree with this. Before his sad demise, Adam made comment about
how each message coming in to the list produced a noticable effect on the host
computer.
This list is long, and our gracious host computer has better things
to do with it's time. Think. Before you add a pointless chatty one-
line zinger to the end of a huge, long, requoted, **unedited**, message...
think. Think about it. Is that message really worthwhile? Do we really care?
Would anybody care other than the person to who
you are replying? Should you not be taking it off-list?

I am deeply sorry....I shall try to keep my questions more on topic in the
future to avoid kicking anyone's beehives....

Take a valium. Those of us who have been here a while realize that this list
occasioanlly drifts off topic and that it resembles an interesting
conversation at a party. Interesting people discussing a few things that arise
from a mutual interest. The list remains mostly on topic and you can just
ignore those threads that have wandered off topic.
And stop YELLING.

I agree. My host E-mail system has a space limit and all the messages
that come in take up space. My biggest problem is with messages where people
don't bother deleting text from the original message. I usually end up paging
down a few screens to find a 2 line reply to the last thing said. The other
thing I find annoying is responses that should not have been sent to the list
(Send me a copy or Me Too) Please keep in mind that some of us have space
limits and also time limits (2 hours in 24 hours for me, but hey, it was
free.) Thanks. Back to my lurking.
