Just heard that the Wing Commander Movie has gone for Ramps, Shoots or some
other flat surface to launch and presumably recover the space fighters in the
film.
Not sure exactly when the film is out and whether it will actually get a
cinema release here in the UK.
Be interesting to see what they have come up with.
"Interesting" isn't really one of the words I'd use to describe Wing
Commander. I won't really say anything more than that (unless you want me
too!).

Actually the term "vomit" comes to mind. Really it wouldn't be a bad move if
you removed everything to do with the fighter squadrons from the movie. That
includes the way the pilots relate to each other, their officers, the culture
of the squadron, their operational procedures both on the deck and in space,
and all interpersonal relationships. Replace all this and the writer with
someone who has either spent: A: at least five minutes in the military, or: B:
Spent five minutes reading a book by someone who once spent five minutes in
the military (Naval aviation would be nice). And then you'd havea good movie!
