Sihks in the Kashmir. That's ESU territory, but with the Islamic Federation
across the border. And the Sihks don't want to be part of either, I'm betting.
Any number of Islamic outfits working for either the Kaliphate, the
Federation, or both.
Revival of the Bader-Meinhoff gang or simillar European Marxist
nutcases sponsored by the ESU. Especially common of Romanoff Hegemony.
Earth First & Greenpeace: Now the Evil Corporate Pollutors are disrupting the
delicate ecosystems of other planets! Never mind that real enviormental
concerns are presumed to have been fixed, as evidenced by the fact that Earth
is still important economically 2 centuries from now. The True Believers[tm]

Still got that nastiness going on on Bretonneux, Doullens, and Compville.
Any number of residuals on planets taken during various Solar Wars,
especially Neu Transvaal. Boers don't give up--you have to kill them
off.
Flakes R US--various libertarians who don't like the NAC, the King, or
organized government in general. Strongest in Montana.

Anyway moving swiftly on...What about groups within the nations themselves?
Maybe a revival of the rightwingers in NSL? New fascists, or a group who see
war as the only redeeming route for the nation (Cult of Bismarck? Blood and
Steel).
NAC Republicans troublemakers wanting to rid us all of the monarchy.
FSE All sorts of separatist groups in the colonies.
ESU Those pesky democratic fanatics. Capitalism just wasn't enough for them.
The various nations in the Universe are far to homogenous. Theres bound to be
trouble within their own borders too.
Has anyone actually drawn up a map of the political boundaries of the Earth in
FT? I'd be interested to see.
Niall spake thusly upon matters weighty:

Heh. Now that's funny. A terrorist group who were expert bombers (all
engineers, don't cha know?), and dedicated to a Sovereign America....
(Just teasing! Send no bombs - thought, mail, or otherwise....)

Drang Nach???? (how do you say "out into space" in German)

Or Scots or Welsh seperatists.

Especially if the FSE is as aggressive in attacking situations as the French
of today are....

Plus sundry other revolutionary movements....

Yep. What about the Farmers Co-op (now a renegade movement
of Western Canadian Farmers)?

Ditto for sure. Anyone done this work yet? Jon?

I have. It's incomplete (obviously). The main gap being figuring out where the
PAU and the IF meet, hence I have a large white space across the southern edge
of the Sahara.
I also made a few unilateral decisions (eg I gave FCT some of the states
between California and Texas. And I let the NSL keep Poland, etc. despite the
FT background making reference to them making moves to join the ESU, I just
don't see it happening myself.)
But you can see a rough version of the map at

Cheers,
Firstly my apologies to any Kiwis.
What about a Maori liberation group within the OU? Their goal might be to
kick the whites out of Tarra-anui (I cant spell it but its Maori for New
Zealand, means "Land of the long white cloud" IIRC). Would strike not only the
OU but also the NAC as revenge for settlement in the first place. Tough, well
organised, cruel and very very nasty.
East Timorese groups fighting for independence from the Indonesians. Used to
be well organised and big back in the 70's they well undergo a series of
expansions by 2183. They may also be inclined to take a shot at the OU and the
major powers for having ignored their situation for so long. May get support
from the FSE (former Portugese colony).
As with the East Timorese, the Irian Jians (Western Papua New Guinea for those
that don't know) would also fight the Indonesians, the OU and major powers.
Would have links with the Maori movement. They get no outside support so are
very low tech.
FSE would also have problems with Basque seperatists on some of its colonies.
You might even get a Facist revival on some Italian dominated colonies (didnt
Mussolinis grand daughter get elected to the Italian parliment a couple of
years ago?)
And finally within the OU itself you would find its own guns and redneck
movement willing to shoot and blow up anything sensible, rational and half way
sane. Commonly refered to as Queenslanders they call their organisation (such
as it is) One Nation:)

At the moment, I can't think of any. Most Maori groups are pushing the
slogan/theme "Honour the Treaty"! It's the government that want to
withdraw from the Treaty of Waitangi, by offering a full and final settlement.
Much like the government of several decades ago did. It's quite fascinating
how people, in general, behave the same way, even though decades or centuries
have passed. You would have thought they would have looked at history and
watched out for these kind of things; like this. Recently, one Maori group
found itself out of pocket, when they found out that one of their members had
sold their entire fishing rights to a private company with out letting any one
else know for the equivalent of peanuts. It sounds like an episode from the
18th or 19th century! Individual greed overcomes group loyalty?

Ops! Thanks Andrew. I wonder what I was thinking of. I have the feeling that
if this were "Once were warriors" I would have died. While we are at it are
there any radical groups in NZ pushing for withdrawing from the Treaty of
Waitangi?
