I have a FT article published in the March edition of MW entitled Sword of
God, which give a Fleet list for the IF and a scenario. Unfortunately there
was some confusion between the editor and I and a draft got published rather
than the final version. One of the ships is missing (Flagship) and the carrier
had typos all over it.
If list member wanted I could e-mail the fixed sections to this list.

Yes please.
I liked the article though I did find the ships to have considerably higher
masses than their equivalents in the Fleet Book navies, which seemed odd
considering the IF background you created.

What's MW??
Next question, where can I find it?
[quoted original message omitted]
Yep.
The software I was using went haywire - my fault and the wrong draft got
printed. When things go wrong they spin increasingly out of control!!! J

Holy Word, TMF = 172, NPV = 589
The Holy Word 'Class' is a single ship built to be the Sword of God's
flagship. It was assembled from hull sections originally designed as part of
smaller vessels considerably reducing the time needed to produce such a major
undertaking in the Bathsheba yards. Such an approach also compensated for the
inexperience of the IF design group. The drawback is that the ship has a week
construction for a dreadnought, being particularly vulnerable
where hull sections are mated together. It was also difficult to fit large
weapon systems into hull sections designed for smaller systems so the Holy
Word tends to be armed with many small batteries. From the point of view of
the IF the vessel is a political success. Whether it will be a military
success remains to be seen.

Correction to MW Article II
Mecca Battle Carrier, TMF = 155, NPV = 529
The Mecca Class Battle Carriers are the largest mass-produced design to
be built by the IF. They are designed to be the core of squadrons capable of
overpowering the defences of whole colonial systems. The ships carry four
squadrons of fighters, giving them a similar punch to a light carrier, but in
addition have enough offensive capability to destroy a patrol cruiser. This
class carries sufficient defences to survive attacks from
cruiser-sized opponents but is not expected to trade blows with capital
ships. It is the most ambitious class ever produced at the converted heavy
merchantman yard at Bathsheba. It remains to be seen whether this innovative
design will be successful. Critics point out that it has limited hanger space
and it is woefully undergunned as a heavy raider having a similar strike
capability to a Saladin heavy destroyer. It is debatable whether a cheap light
carrier and a destroyer might have carried out the
same function more efficiently and at less cost. Nevertheless, whatever its
drawbacks, this class represents a significant achievement by the Federation
and the experienced gained from their production will undoubtedly serve the IF
well in future designs.

quite different. John the Worm King
