Yes. I understood that. The original formula in More Thrust is 1D6 (+2
for
Superior scanners) -1D6 for ECM = result on the sensor table. As I see
it your version makes ECM far less powerful and basic sensors more capable
than before. I still don't see it as an improvement to the ECM... since your
formula generally gives higher results on the sensor table.

Perhaps we can allow the ECM user to look out thru his ECM, this would also
inprove the value of ECM.

One of the reasons I tried this was to get rid of the dice rolling
for a non-combat function.

I'll try to clarify my statement: If you know what the _enemy_ calls its
class, and manages to identify a ship as belonging to that class, you
should have a pretty good idea of its configuration - because otherwise,
how did you manage to identify the class?

Of course, _your own_ codename for it is another matter <g> And for
simplicity in the game, it works - "I shoot at your Borodino" is shorter
to
say than "I shoot at the left-most of your gray-purple battleships (or
were they battlecruisers?)".
