It would be easy to put a ships signature value on its SDD.

Would a ships signature increase as it took damage? So at the end of the
damage rows there might be a series of different signature values.

Missiles would not attack the closest ship but instead
the largest signature within range - so sacrificial
escorts would need a 'blip enhance' system like the Falklands helios.

This also suggest a series of sneaky manoeuvres -
artificially boosting a ships signature to fool an
enemy - like a submarine releasing oil and debris.
Amusing but better suited to a novel or RPG rather than FT.

Drop the die type for every thresh hold? If you are already at D4, then go up
a die type on the sensor players die?

Weasel boats!

Weasel boats and dummy bogeys. A cluster of frigates and bogeys coming in on
one side a system to spoof the system defenders to the other side while the
real task force comes in to pulverize the ship yard and staging areas....

We can safely assume that any unit has the blip enhancer software plugin
