OK, here's the short verison, and then the long one.

SHORT VERSION Nous. Pronounced to rhyme with "House".

Strine dielect of English.

One possessed of Nous is not entirely a clue-free zone, nor a waste
of Oxygen. Someone with their fertiliser together.

As in http://www.marketingnous.com.au/export.htm
or http://www.nous.net.au/welcome.htm

Also found in Kiwiland, as in:
http://www.synapsis.co.nz/herald/Herald_2000/Herald_column_Nov_22_00.htm
"she has nous" etc.

LONG VERSION Common Australasian word for "competence", "Understanding" in the
Zen sense.
Buddha-Nature.

(use of "nous" in the New Testament)

Quotes: (there are 3 Greek words translateable as "mind")..Dianoia is the part
of the intellect which engages in abstract reasoning and moral reflection, in
understanding, feeling and desiring..The second word, nous, refers to
philosophical reasoning and logic, the mind being used to make moral

Oddly enough (or rather, not that oddly), I recognized that context (comes of
reading too much theology lately) but dismissed it as a possibility for

Didn't figure Diggers to be that well read.

Good. Our Master Plan to Take Over The World proceeds
on-track then. First, we must get everyone else to underestimate
us.

The only guy to tumble to it appears to be Dr Paul Linebarger.

It's worse than that, but that's a whole 'nother
off-topic conversation.

Depends on what you want us to underestimate you at. We've got a healthy
respect for your ah... many

Sheep!! - we don't have many sheep down here, we just don't have a lot
of
people, so it just looks like there are a lot of sheep - now the the
Kiwi's have a lot of sheep (and velcro lined panel vans too) <Big Grin>

Yeah. The Virginian talks with a slow, funny accent, the New Yorker talks with
a FAST, funny accent.
