Hi

This is my first message to the Full Thrust mailing list

What is the purpose of full and partial streamlining, other than the fact that
you can enter a planets atmosphere. I am currently having an argument with a
friend over it! For example can you attack Dirtside forces with the ship?

Also what do you think about fortifying planetside facilities for 25 points?

and also a planet to space weapon system for 250 points which can attack

one ship per turn?

Sounds cool I am trying to get some better rules for fortifications in

DS2

250 points expensive! Prehaps 10 points per capacity 1 point. The
weapons should be limited to AA -Batteries, Missiles, Fighters.

Measurements should start from the plantary boardedge. Well just an idea while
I drink my afternoon tea!

Sounds good but then you need a way to attack back. Ortillety mighy work but
that seems a bit like using A or AA beams on fighters. I guess if instead of a
weapon system you had a ground base similar to a space station or satellite
with fire degradation both ways due to atmosphere.

Concerning planets fighting back, have a look at:

http://www.bifrost.demon.co.uk/Planets.html

It contains some preliminary ideas for attacking and defending planets in FT.

As far as the rules are concerned, I think the only game-difference
streamlining could make is if you're trying to enter planetary orbit and are
going either too fast or too slow. In my games, streamlining has only been
important for campaign games or special scenarios. As for attacking
ground-based troops with spaceships, I guess you could permit this for
fully-streamlined ships depending on how well you think space-based
weapons would work in an atmosphere (insert PSB of choice here).
