Greetings Brad (Mr. Carlson)!

The game looks interesting. Perhaps I will pick up a copy if I can scrounge up
the funds.

Even if I stay within the FT game, your game should provide ideas.

Are you going to sell the flight bases seperatly? How close are they to the
Moondragon telescoping stands. From the pictures they do not seem to have the
flexible top (of the Moondragon stands). How long are the extentions

and how many extentions are there?

Are you going to release a miniatures line to go with the game? If so, who
will be casting them and distributiing them?

"Brad" will do. I spend too much time playing with toys to be "Mr. Carlson".
:)

Yes we will sell the bases. $5 each, which is a no-profit price for us,
to make it less expensive for people to get into the game.

The base is 3"x3"

The stand is 6 section x ~3" each.

No flexi-top. Each ship we sell will come with a mounting nipple.

The flexi-top issue is an interesting one. During early playtests, we
had a
more detailed z-axis movement system, with tilting ship models. Looked
cool.

But it was all a bit fiddly. And the playtesters response was "
...whatever...,
now tell me what I need to hit!" The third dimension was fun (they said) but
only if they didn't have to mess around with it too much to make it work.

That is why Starship! is now the only true 2.5D space combat game.;)

As for figs, we have two fleets now, and more on the way.

I do the casting myself (resin, the same stuff we use for Pirates!, not the
brittle grey stuff). The biggest ships are pretty big (larger and more volume
than the Superior line). Details to be on the website soon.

Are they clones of 'well known' designs or originals (influenced by...)?

Will you have pics on the website?

The current fleets are:

S'Tang: which look like nothing I've seen before, with a very high tech
/ anime feel. There are currently sketches up here:

http://www.flagshipgames.com/starship.htm

DARC: which I've been told look a bit like either Starwars star destroyers,
but more rounded, and with large ventral fins

I have a bunch of pictures -- I just need to get them uploaded.

We have more fleets on the way, often taking advantage of the lightness of
resin to give these ships some real bulk.

Look pretty good. The solar flares were a really good idea, they look great.

Thanks! I made some improved flares for ConQuest last weekend. Pics to follow.

Aside from a very slight similarity to a rather disappointing ship out of the
Star Wars novel Galoob boxes, the only thing that comes to mind is a
ship out of the original Heavy Metal movie. 'Great Nyborg, man...' ;->=

Whether or not I fly them in Starship!, I shall probably be using one of the
size 5 ships as a surprise transport in a weird scenerio.

Aside from an occasional 'now, wait a minute', Brad, I must say I've found the
conversation has been most illuminating, and I hope you hang around to try
FTII more and give us some thoughts on it.

The sketches of the S'Tang look interesting. Reminds me of some designs from
Homeworld and some anime.

When you get some shots of production modles, please let the list know. If
possible, it would be good to have some shots with scale (include a quarter or
some such or provide dimentions).

Same applies to the DARC.

A quarter?

More like a baseball.

Hopefully this weekend.
