I just got another order in--the Terran "Trolls" this time. Not
bad, IMHO. All of John's minis have that '50s look that I think creates a
classic sci-fi atmosphere.
We use a lot of his micro-armor for our Ogre/G.E.V. games.
I got my mini's in the mail last night, overall they were what I'd expected.
Fairly crude, thin, 20mm sized fellas, need some work, but hey, that's why I
bought aliens, who's to say Nektons aren't 4 feet tall. I do like the Dreenoi
and Nautiloids, although I have been spoiled by 'modern' miniatures. These are
definately retro. The Nekton "typhoon squad" is pretty 'blobby' and ill
defined, but the Gauss Cannon RULES! Also there were some minor problems with
my order, but nothing I'm sure
some e-mail won't straighten out.

One of the members of my gaming club ordered the rules and some of the minis.
The basic rules look pretty good, opinions are still out on the robot rules.
We have not played either yet though. The trooper minis are somewhat lacking
in detail but considering the price, a buck a miniature, they are not bad game
pieces. You can get minis of laser wielding races (ant, & snail come to mind)
that you won't find anywhere else. No one has ordered the starships yet but we
will with the next order.
Also try the Terran "Trolls" as 25mm Heavy Power armor forces. I'm
going to use mine for Pan-African power armor. AT $16 for 8, you can get
almost two squads for pretty cheap, and you'll have a very distinctive and
interesting looking force. These are true 25mm (like all of John's stuff),
but since the Trolls are supposed to be 7-8 ft. tall, they look "right"
beside your standard SGII power armor. I painted them this weekend, and they
look cool.
