I've superglued some to a US penny. Haven't played 'em enough to comment on
how they'll stand up to punishment. I've some textured acrylic paint that I'll
try to build up the base around the figs.
I've a friend that wouldn't try the loaded paint, as he hates waiting for
stuff to dry, but I'm hoping that adding the color paint first will make it a
single step.
You're right; the mold-on base looks just lumpy on the flat penny.

I bought a bunch of cheepo plastic bases (brsnasis has some really
cheap ones), use an x-acto knife to remove the "lip" on some of the
molded bases and superglue them to the base. I then use wood filler to make it
all look like terrain and hide the figures base. Paint (not carefully) and
flock.
It really is fairly quick and painless.
Hi all, To go along with this thread I just hit a local KayBee warehouse and
picked up the smaller micromachine sets for StarShip Troopers and all the
Aliens movie packs for $2.50 a piece. Too bad they didnt have any Trek sets.

I picked up some a few weeks ago. I plan on mounting them on
3/4" diameter washers. Should work for everybody except maybe the
Jawa's (too small of a base). That should also give them a wider base and make
them more stable. Only the ones that are kneeling will have their bases
overhanging a bit.
I got 3 packs each of Rebel Fleet Troopers, Imperial Regular Army, Imperial
Officers, and a pack of Echo Base Troopers, Rebel Pilots, and Jawas... for
about 25 bucks. By far the single best
miniature/figure
are the two Jawa's that are surrendering... that makes me smile everytime I
see them. I'm jealous of anybody who found Storm Troopers
and/or Combat Droids ... I looked everywhere for those things.
I've been buyuing tons of these figures as well for the past few
years--I
mount mine on pennies then paint over the base and flock. Looks okay, and the
weight of the penny helps keep them upright.
