Hi All:

I'm going to the Gateway Sci-Fi Convention in St. Louis this
weekend. (First major road trip since... oh, 1994.) I was wondering if anyone
had any info on local game stores I could peruse if things got boring? I'd
like to track down some Jovian Chronicles figs and a few other things I need
to run my GenCon games.

Mark,

Where will you be staying? There are several game stores in the St.Louis area.
The best, in my opinion, for miniatures is The Hobby Shop which is on Hampton
Road. Another good shop is Games, Crafts, Hobbies & Stuff on Lackland. They
used to stock a reasonable amount of GZG game stuff, but sold it off just
prior to their recent move. And, the local chain, The Fantasy Shop, has 5
(soon to be 6) stores all over the St.Louis area, though they cater mostly to
the GW and CCG gamers.

If you would like, I can give you more exact addresses to these places.

One of the best game stores in the area is actually over in O'Fallon, Il (it's
not that far from the site for Archon). Its called Medieval Starship.

http://www.medievalstarship.com/ (the website is pretty simple, right
now.)

This is a gaming shop (rpgs and board games), with very little of anything
else. Some comics (KODT, lots of anime), real bladed weapons and armor, and a
good selection of used gaming material, also.

The Starship has a good selection of Jovian Chronicles, Tribe 8, and a great
HG selection. He doesn't carry and GZG stuff, but I have done a Full Thrust
demo (and plan to do others) to help build up support.

The Fantasy Shop (One of my dearest friends works for them) supplies my comic
need, while Games, Crafts, Hobbies, and Stuff fulfills my historical miniature
fix. The Hobby Shop is where I go to find more esoteric minis.

I could be biased (Jay is in my Traveller campaign), but in my four years in
the area, I find the Starship to be the best overall games shop.

If you want directions to any, email me. Drop by the Starship - I'll
pull out some of my ships and we can whip these midwestern boys into shape!
