I DID come up with a cool looking Light Assault Dropship/Attack VTOL for
DSII last night. I took the body af a B-tech madcat, put on the LRM
launcher boxes, addes a couple of trhusters where the arms go, no legs, filed
off the flat part of the bottom, and glued on a backback from a Heavy
Gear as tail assembly (I had an aircraft v-tail from a bits box I added
as well). Not bad for a bashing neophyte. Makes me want to get som Madcats and
backpacks.

Sounds cool - any chance of pics?
Madcats are those 'mechs with the sort of cylindrical body, right? Kind of
like the nose of a B-29 bomber? If that's the one, I can see how that
would make a cool dropship.

Eventually. Mind you, I have no proper tools, so the filing was done with a
nail clipper file - I need a better file to finish it off. Then I need
to add a couple more details. Then prime and paint. Then get my hands on a
digital camera. But eventually, yeah, I'd love to show it off. I'd love to
make a few more, but the tail winglets were a scrap in a bits box at the
local gaming stor, I have not the faintest what they came from. All the
other stuff should be easier to get -- the lifting thrusters came from a
Battletech Kanga jump/hovertank, I'd be willing to buy a couple more of
those because even without the jets they look like a cool futuristic hybrid
between a hovertank, an MLRS, and a StuG. The Madcats can be found. And
Heavy Gear engine backpacks show up occasionally - I just have to
remember to remove the box with the X on it (Fuel cell?) from them.

That's the one. One of the better all-around mech designs in the game,
too. Near perfect blend of speed, armor, and weaponry.

Tell me that you used a plastic model (not likely given that you filed it
down)
*sob*
Well at least you didn't use a Marauder!

Sorry, the lead RP fig.

There there, don't cry. It wasn't a whole fig, it was just parts I found in
the local store's bits bin.
> Well at least you didn't use a Marauder!
Used to have one of those, gave it away.

*sniff* well that makes me feel slightly better *grin*

That's perfectly reasonable (they're getting fairly rare at this stage)
They both should make fairly excellent dropships though! Any chance of seeing
the final product?

Though I WAS so impressed with the end results, I may buy a couple more
madcats for the same purpose. *evil cackle*

After Fasa lost the rights to the original Robotech-based figures,
things really went downhill. Amazing they managed to kill such a popular
gaming line.

Again, only once 1) I've finished it to my own satisfaction and 2) I get
access to a digital camera.

Hi Brian, I you want to make a few more, I have some of the Madcat bodies in
the blue resin form.
