Hello Everybody: Yesterday, I was cruising the game store after picking up my
copy
of The Babylon Project. I was paging through the various sci-fi rpg and
board games and thinking of all the lost miniature opertunities that have been
lost. There are a lot of great starships designs in these game that would have
made great minis. Here a short list of the games with ship designs that caught
my attention:
Battletech: I like the warship designs seen in both the 2750 and
3052 tech readouts. Mekton Zeta: Especially the ships in their new "Starblade"
supplement. The Jovian Chronicles (Old Mekton Supplement soon to be a stand
alone game from Dream Pod 9): Nice "low tech" ships. Cyberpunk 2020: Nice
"VERY low tech" ships in their space background supplement. Heavy Gear (I
still haven't bought the game just yet. I blew a wad on The B5 RPG.): Cool
looking ships.
There are also a couple of dead mini lines I wish would come
back...
Space Fleet: OK, the game sucked moose ----, but the mini's
were sooooooo cool. I've got a nice sized fleet of Imperial and Eldar ships.
However, I WANT MORE!!!!
Silent Death (Pre-"The Next Millenium"): I got ahold of an old
SD supplement and I must say that the old minis looked a lot better than
the weird designs they are using now.
Anyone else share my frustration?

I'd like to see some more in the CMD line. I remember rumors of an ESU Assoult
Transport a while ago, but I haven't seen one. Another thing is I'd like to
see more of the Merchants actually get produced over here in the States.

Hmmm. Actually, I prefer the new designs. The old one seem too "boxy" to me. I
guess whichever version you started with will be the one that appeals to you.
I got into the game with the Next Millenium.
Some other lines I'd like to see back:
* Citadel's Traveller 15mm beauties (MUCH better than Martian Metals)
* The recently departed Traveller Starships. (Good for low-level FT)
* Galoob's Star Trek ship series. They've been put on hiatus because of Star
Wars.

Sorry guys, I just can't resist...
I've got 8 Wraithships & 10 Shadowhunters... nearly 50 Imperial crusiers and
battleships, and nearly that number of their DDs and escorts... plus a bunch
of the support craft... and a bunch of Tyranid ships. Now I
just have to paint them! ^_^
(People seeing your Space Fleet WWW page and asking, "Hey, do you want my
ships? I'll sell 'em cheap!" is a truly *wonderful* thing....)

I'd say (IMHO) that the Space Fleet ships are either the coolest
miniatures you've seen or they're absolute pseudo-gothic-crap. No in
between. I also have to say I generally snap up any and all I find ($
permitting) yes, even the gothic ones, you never know.... Eldar Ships: Can
anyone say Minbari
> Silent Death (Pre-"The Next Millenium"): I got ahold of an old
My Eagle I and II class Patrol Torpedo Boats are old SD-P-"TNM" minis,
Dart fighters make cool DD's, Cutters, or other Small ships. Betafortresses
are decidedly Neu Swabian.....

Actually the ships are availabe from GW, just not as whole units. You can
order whatever want as spare parts. You need to have a replacement catalog and
know what pieces go to what, but apparently you can assemble
any ship from their spare parts stock. They are not listed in the normal
catalog however.

Where in the states do you guys find these ships. The 3 local hobby stores
can't/won't get them so I'm forced to look elsewhere. So, Where can I
find them and do they have phone numbers.

I mentioned seeing two tyranid ship blisters at Allied Hobbies on Cottman
Avenue in Philadelphia. Don't know whether anybody got 'em or not, though. One
blister of drones (I think), and a Dark Something.

The trouble with ordering from GWUK is that they recently re-did their
pricing scheme, and things got *expensive*. All Space Fleet Battleships (this
includes Emperors, Gothics, Wraithships, etc.) are $10 each. Not much of a
price increase for the Emperor, but all the others bounced up
$2-3.... The cruisers (Thunderbolt, Firestorm, Shadowhunter) are 2/$10,
and the little ships (Cobra DDs, Escorts) are 5/$10. This hurts.
Unfortunately, it is rather hard to find these ships in the States, or
anywhere else for that matter.
(Though if anyone wants some Dictator Battleships, I have a few
extra....)

Can't get them, most likely.

GWUK's phone number is 01144-1773-713213; I am not presently aware of
any hobby stores in the USA that have Space Fleet minis. I do seem to recall
someone in Australia saying there were some in their store when I asked after
them on the EPIC mailing list, but I haven't been able to
find... Ah-HA! If you're really interested, try e-mailing
"st954520@echidna.stu.cowan.edu.au" and asking about the Space Fleet minis.
There was a pretty good mix of ships (I have the list he sent me) though one
shop was kinda heavy on the Emperors and Goliaths. Between the two shops there
were only four Wraithships, though.
If I get any more offers off my web page, or if anyone tells me where
more ships are available, I'll most likely pass that along -- I've got
enough ships for the moment. ^_^ (Though I could use a few more
Annihilators... maybe a couple more Tyrants... hmm.... ^_- )

One of the Imperial ships, the "Annihilator" IIRC, makes a mean-looking
grav
tank...
I have to admit that recently, I've been using micro machines. They aren't
nearly as well produced as most miniatures, but they are cheaper, I don'tr
have to paint them, and I don't feel bad about throwing 100 of them loose into
a plastic shoebox.

And just to make you all GREEN with envy on the other side of the pond I have
had for some time 3 squadrons of GZG 'star tigers' (Hint Hint buy these ships
now,as from reading this list they are at a better scale) and a nice tramp

For Jon's sake theses oppinions are mine and any likeness to b5 ships must be
due to my poor eyesight and willingness to part money for small tokens of lead

Aaron,
I would be interested in any extras (all ship types) that you have available.

Saw the barrels off the Annihilator turret, turn around so the scars face the
rest of the superstructure rather than ahead, and you've got a
decent-looking Battlecruiser/Heavy Cruiser (depending on how you've
classed the other ships, of course). It's b****y expensive, though:(
