Aussies, (Brits too I bet,) Canadians, Dutch, Germans - I was about to
wonder if we (USA) had missed the 'sneaky gene' but the SEAL thing reminded it
me it's there, just recessive.

Out of curiosity, how do you model 'sneaky' skills and similar Gee-Whiz
stuff in SG 2? I am thinking the old 'sneak suit' stuff form A. Mark Ratner's
Space Marines by FGU (IIRC.)

Gracias,

SEALs? Sneaky? BS--they THINK they exist to secure
airfields.

That's why they keep getting units wiped out and pinned down until someone
else can get to them.

Try Green Beanies--they are so sneaky they actually
take missions that don't involve CNN cameras.

G'day,

Are you talking hidden movement Glenn? If so then you can extend sniper hidden
movement to units, or if you really trust you're opponent go for "real" hidden
movement (no figs, no counters, just plotting on a map until you get sprung).
If you mean various form of chamelon suits you can mess with them acting like
extra cover and so making you harder to
spot/target, particularly if in IP. I've messed around with this kind of
stuff a fair bit (mainly for various alien species), if you're interested.

Yes, that is what I am talking about.

G'day,

> chamelon suits...

Here's an example of something similar we use:

"When a unit wearing battleskins is IN POSITION and becomes the target of
small arms fire, or a spotting action, or is the target in a FIRING AT
UNLOCATED TARGET action then the TARGET die (or RANGE die, which ever is
appropriate) it rolls is shifted an ADDITIONAL UP1. This shift does NOT apply
if the unit is not IN POSITION as the suit may not be fully effective due to
lag if the wearers are not concentrating on making the most of their
position."

Anotehr one of the species I play actually gets similar benefits but
even when on the move. If you wanted better suits/skills make it UP2 or
something rather than UP1

Thanks! I think I will use the up2 or up 1 even when moving for one alien
(Rauwoofs) battlesuits [in the original rules they werte a very 'Light
Infantry' nation) along with mods to reflect their differences in 'pack'
mentality as mercs to another species The Ursinoid Blarads whose sneak
suits (traditionally less effective since they preferred armor - very
similar to D10 unpowered armor - more then most species) will be
reflected with a UP1 when in (and only in) position and limited to "...a
spotting action, or is the target in a FIRING AT UNLOCATED TARGET..."
situations. Once spotted the less effecvtive Blarads suits (for flavor
reasons) will provide less protection. The third (and also specialist recon
Mercs to Blarads versus the 'encroaching naked mole rat humans' <grin> I think
I need a copy of the 'Naked Mole Rap' to play during these games) will be the
Avian race with D4 and flying belts.

Rauwoofs and Blarads in unison: 'They have human wraps? Yummm!'

Ick! I assume they don't have a lot of armor? Or don't come in large groups?

I'd love to see the minis you use for these gents. Comign up with interesting
but fair rules for new races can be hard. I hade to go through rule by rule
for my Tonk (which are now homeless since my webspace went poof). The
important thing is to always make sure they are too uberpowerful.

G'day,

They don't usually come out of water and their companion species that does is
more timid and aren't as good armour wise so it all balances out in the end...
just makes the human guys nervous when they realise
they're fightin beside a lake/beach etc etc ;)

G'day,

The land guys are octopus figures with energy shields made from small sewing
rings and painted overhead plastic. The water based chamelon aliens are
reptilian painted with the same colours as most of our terrain. Works
surprisingly well. I'm working on a mirror effect using metallic paints and
varnish, but I don't think that wuill be much use except on large parts of
vehicles.

The human "battleskins" are really only done via camo paint jobs. Nice enough,
but nothing particularly special. One day I will buy Derek a digital camera
and we'll up date our gallery.

Its the best I like best about sci-fi ;)

> The important thing is to always make sure they are too

Do you mean are NOT too uberpowerful?;)

The odd uber alien isn't too bad so long as they also don't come in number (so
can be beat down by overwhelming numbers... eventually) or if they're in a
scenario there to represent mans last stand or something;)
