[slightly OT]SF novels with GZG-ness

Has anyone read "His Majesty's Starship" by Ben Jeapes?

I enjoyed it and thought there was quite a bit of FT-relevant stuff.
The basic storyline involves a friendly alien race, with FTL, arriving in our
system (no FTL but Belters and Mars colonies, and a lot of space activity) and
inviting bids for partnership in developing a planet they have. There is a
well realized spaceship combat and an interesting denouement (ye gods and
little fishes, ye'd not believe the trouble a lab full of supposedly educated
folk had checking that spelling).
