Actually this article is available online on WOTC's website.

Issue #3 of Star Wars gamer had the classic Star Wars fighters (this is the
article online), Issue #5 had the Episode 1 fighters, and there will be
another Silent Death article in Issue #7, due out soon.
I liked the issues too, though I couldn't help but notice that the Episode 1
Naboo fighter (yellow and silver one I think) was pretty much an even
match for the X-Wing supposedly developed years
later, even to the droid socket. Doesn't seem plausible to me.

Hi,
Did somebody say that there were some inside of starship rules/designs
on this site?

I just had a look at it, and although it's a good article, I don't think
they've really captured the craft with the stats used. I personally think
there should be more difference in the DR between shields and no shields and a
larger difference in the DV of TIEs and rebel craft.
Various other nitpicks with them (such as the X-wing being faster than
TIE fighters). I must get my Silent Death rules out and fix it up.
Hmmm, anyone going to Conquest in Melbourne next year interested in playing in
something like this?

Actually though most sources agree that they are fragile and not very good
fighters, TIES are supposed to be pretty fast. Mostly though they're cheap.
Yes, they should have a low DV, low damage resistance and a decent weapon. The
ultimate attrition fighter.
