Since I end up playing NSL pretty often, I'm interested in the Beast's
offer of Austro-Hungarian ship names and terminaology. I assume they'll
still be somewhat germanic, but not quite the same as old Deutchland.
Heck - if there's any Check names floating around, I'd love to see them,
too.

I'll look to see if the Czech's haven't come up with a navy yet.
Difficult to do if you're land-locked.
There're Turkish ships in the Jane's, too, of course, but if you want
a go at the list, knock thyself out. ;->=
As for the authentic/obscure names, I'm fairly certain that Starfire
used Arabic for the KON ships, but I never tried to find out for sure.

Whenever I hear the "Odd Couple" theme, I get this image of Dennis Rodman
borrowing Marge Schott's toothbrush.

Does anyone find this image NEAR as disturbing as I?!?!? *shudder*

That's really rather the point. It'd make at least a good Saturday Night Live
skit if Marge Schott ever gets herself in the news again, or hosts the show...

The Ophiuchi ship names (or at least the class names) could be Arabic -
they're the ones all beginning with Al- (except the carriers which
begin with Zirk- ).
KON ship names tend to be bastardized from Terran words or names
(geographical, personal or even fictional). To list some of the more
obvious, there are the Filkhab-class BBs Atlynta, Dykhota, Feenyx,
Nazhvyl and Nevada (US states and cities), the Parzh-class BCs Dwerv,
Golam, Gondhar, Ilf, Ilfenhow, Roihana and Shir (Middle-Earth races and
countries) and the Kalakzon-class CAs Kalakzon, Alahrm, Syrun and
Wornyng (if you don't figure these out, you're too good at spelling
<g>).

That won't help much, I'm afraid. Ottoman ships would most likely be named in
Turkish, which is rather less related to Arabic than Spanish
is to American :-/

OK, I give up. Who are Rodman & Schott?

Those of us in Cincinnati, however, have a more realistic view of her --
she's just a dumb old broad. (Her words, I think.)
Um... to bring this on topic... I found some pictures of the Irregular space
ships. Ainsty miniatures has some pictures:
http://www.btinternet.com/~ainsty/irregular.htm
One of the pictures features the not-Battlestar Galactica
ship.
And, since they are not pictured, if anyone is interested in what the
Imperials look like, they are very, very Star Trek Federation-esque

The pictures on Anisty look very nice. Are they really that

Thanks for providing subtitles to us Furriners.
> Um... to bring this on topic... I found some pictures of the
There is another one, of an Irregular "Imperial" ship. The "Imperial"s look
very very very Star Trek Federation like, without actually duplicating either
the FASA or Starline 2200 series.
Have a squizz at

For a very Federation Frigate like vessel. Basically, it's a Fed Frigate with
an additional superstructure underneath, protruding rearwards.
