Subject: SGII/Skirmish after action report, Section One
Debrief report submitted by Colonel J. W. Auschinlek, Commanding 3rd Mechanized Cavalry. "We made it to NovCom research facility Echo Nine at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. As their last transmission was somewhat garbled (After analysis revealed this to be uncontrollable screaming) we moved in at a state of alert. We found the surface base devoid of the garrison or scientists but there were numerous signs of a fierce battle having been fought. The Security access hatch to the labs was closed and welded shut, so we moved to the emergency hatch some.7 kilometers distant. This hatch was closed but not welded. We then radioed back to NovCom for the access codes for the emergency hatch. That is when they hit." (At this point Herr Auschinlek lost his composure and took several moments to re-fortify himself) " Our two APCs mounted the newest TecCore Omnipulse scanner arrays and we did not pick them up until they were almost on us. I estimate their were easily a hundred or so Krail assault forms accompanied by twenty Krail Warriors, a Warmaster and two Biopod tanks. My troops assumed defensive postioins at the perimeter walls and were immediately engaged by the enemy. The Krail biopods blew our Command APC straight to hell with their Acid gel cannon while our second APC chewed up a wave of Krail Assault forms with its 30mm Vulcan. Our AT missile gunners managed to cripple one biopod before the second wave of assault forms hit the wall. There followed some fierce hand to hand combat while the machinegunners held off the Krail warriors with a dense pattern of fire. During this fighting Privates Ernesto Alvarez and John Mbenga showed considerable gallantry by breaking their attack with point blank plasma flamer fire (recommend medal for Gallantry, first class to be awarded postumously). At this point the third and fourth wave of Assault forms charged the south wall from cover of the nearby tree line. Squad Tango was unable to stop them and were wiped out to a man. Missile Gunner Teg managed to destroy the second Biopod tank, but not before it had blown the track our second APC and he himself was killed by a bio-acid weapon fired by a Krail warrior." " At this point our Comm Specialist received the access codes for the hatch, and, as our perimeter was breached, I made the decision to withdraw into the lab bunker and assume a defensive position that would maximize our remaining firepower. Squad Alpha would cover the retreat of Squads Gamma and Charlie and follow last into the bunker (Squad Tango having been destroyed). During the retreat Alpha and the APC (immobilized, but with turret functional) just managed to hold the Krail back while the other squads retreated. Only my comm specialist and I managed to survive from Alpha and get into the hatch. Corporal Simmons was killed only feet from the hatch while engaging a charging Krail warrior with bayonet." " That was when it got nasty..."
