Subject: SGII scenario idea
I had the following vague idea for a scenario for SGII, and I was wondering 1) do people like the idea 2) if so, does anyone want to flesh it out for inclusion in the Scenario Book? The idea is as follows: It's 2165. After being forced into the jungle, the Boer settlers on Iylichograd/Neu Transvaal conduct a guerilla war against the ESU. This is is a major irritant to the ESU forces on the planet, which decide to end the Boer menace once and for all. The ESU cracks the Boer codes, and sends false messages indicating that off-planet Boer supporters will be airdropping supplies (guns, ammo, food, medicine, etc.) at a certain clearing. The Boers fall for the trick, and send a force to pick up the supplies. As they reach the containers, they are ambushed by ESU forces who try to drive the Boers to use the containers as cover. Little do the Boers know that the false containers are full of explosives, which the ESU intend to set off in the middle of the Boer force.... This could, of course, be generalized further, and one would have to figure out how to balance the scenario. Presumably, the Boer objective is, initially, to get the contents of the containers and get out with minimal casulties; once the deception is revealed, the new objective is to get out alive. The ESU are trying to cripple the Boer force. One possible problem with the scenario is that it assumes the Boers don't know what's going on - umpires will have to spring this on unsuspecting players. Ideally, the Boer player shouldn't have read the scenario; if he/she has, then the scenario will have to be disguised a bit. Ideas?
