Wait a minute as I get the asbestos suit on (just kidding, this list is great
about this sort of thing)...
Although GW stuff is a bit big, you could order just the mortars of the newer
Imperial Guard miniature lines for GWUK mail order. The parts you
need to order are 0444/9 and 0444/10. Together they cost 2.75 pound
sterling outside North America or $5.50 for those of us in North America. To
order from the UK mail order, call (from outside Great Britian)
011-441-773-713-213. Another option is to call GWUS at 1-800-394-GAME
and order the heavy weapon team with mortar, costing about $10.99, however you
will be left with two figures that are about 28mm is scale. Be warned
though, shipping costs can be nasty, $15-$25 from the UK, and a minimum
of $4.50 from the US (unless you order over $150 or more in merchandise).
One other warning about these figures, the mortars metioned, just like alot of
GW other SF figures, are styled big and look a bit archaic.
Hope this helps.
Where can I find some 25mm mortars (with or without crew)? (Not mole mortars!)
Thanks

Yeah, I'd like to know this too. I suppose Imperial Guard (WH40K) Mortars are
okay, but I think they're a bit big.

Please, no Workshop stuff, real mortars are much thinner with respect to
overall length. GW is science-fantasy, which is fine for what it is,
but I'm
looking for science-FICTION, not fantasy. There must be some UK MODERN
stuff out there.

They'd be available in numerous WW2 and Vietnam ranges, eg Skytrex, FAA etc

What was the scale again? 25mm mortar is extremely small (something like the
Japanese WW II knee mortar), so for 25mm, you could possibly use 15mm mortars
(from plastic soldier kits) For anything smaller, glue two sticks togethr to
make a support and take a third for the barrel. Take an odd piece of machinery
from a tank kit for the sighting device, and voila: instant mortar.

Most 20th century wargamers work at 20mm scale, so if you want to buy 25mm
stuff you may have a problem finding it. Of course you could just down size so
a (20mm) 105mm becomes like an (25mm) 81mm or equivalent.
OTOH a mortar is, what?... a tube, a bipod, a baseplate and maybe a little
hand computer to crunch the trajectory. Is this such a difficult thing to
model from scratch?

As much as this hurts to say....you might wanna check the 40K line. I believe
they got mortars for thier Imperial Guard line, probably 4 or 5 variants. I
could be wrong though.
I use a WWII German Mortar from a kit. With a very little conversion
it works VERY well. Either 1/32nd or 1/48th scale if I remember
correctly.....
