AAAAAAAAAhhh! I can't wait for this type of game!

As a matter of fact I am in the process of making a set of masters so that I
can cast lots and lots of modular starship/starbase terrain (corridors,
walls, etc.)...as well as writting my own rules!

Now if "FMA Skirmish" were released, maybe I can just concentrate on the

terrain... ;-)

I've been casting up some specific bits of equipment (like airlock doors and
work stations, intact and destroyed) but rather than the modular approach was
leaning more toward building whole decks with external walls, using the
construction approach for starship decks seen in the last issue of Star Wars
Gamer. The internal details could then be rearranged for different floor

plans (based on the deckplans for the Azhanti High Lightning class Colonial
Cruiser from Traveller). How are you designing your modular pieces,
and what do they look like? Jed

Hmmm... I have not seen that article. I will see if I can dig it up. Can you
give me more details or point me toward this article?

My approach is VERY similiar to the excellent set of modular terrain that
Ainsty makes.

Funny you should say this, as I'm working on a set of sewer walls. I'm using
Super Sculpey. It would be easy to use Super Sculpey to make modular spaceship
terrain, depending on how detailed you want to get.

Just wanted to remind all of an option 'halfway' between paper/cardboard
and resin: vacuform.

The plastic can be a bit fragile, and, depending on the method of molding, the
detail a bit blurred, but it's nearly at light as stiff cardboard, and as
three dimensional as resin. And the price tends to be very good.

I mentioned Sci-Fi Supply on list a while ago, but I don't have the web
site handy. Are there other companies doing similar? Has anyone done their
own?

I've both an old Mattel Vacu-form and the more recent, reversed mold
version. Anyone try using these for their own walls? Natch, in much smaller
chunks than you can do with Wild Walls.

Funny you should mention Sci-Fi Supply (again).

I sent them several emails, no reply. I called a couple local suppliers and I
have had zero luck getting my hands on thier "Wild Walls" series (which would
be perfect IMO).

I was ready to buy about two dozen sets of these walls and glue them to foam
core board. They are priced right and look pretty good IMO. But, alas it was
not to be...

BTW their web site is at:

Whoa, that's disturbing news! The last time I mentioned them, I had been
digging in the basement for a spare set for someone else on the list when I
noticed they were back in production. Hope he got a response back then.

The only reason I had spare was they never moved well originally, and were
pretty common on deep discount/sale.

Wow! If memory serves me right, there are four sheets of four walls per
sheet, that run about 8-10" long(that may be conservative). Twenty-four
sets comes out to something between 250-320 feet, right? That's a HECK
of a lot of corridors!!!

Anyway, apologies to all who may have found this too long off GZG topic.

Whoops, just looked more closely at the site, and noticed they say 'over 25
feet' per set. Of course, many of the pictured examples use the walls three
high, so it drops back into my guestimate range.

Still, 200' of walls... WHOOF!

I don't think Sci-Fi supply is in business anymore, at least I haven't
been able to get any of their stuff, from the web or from my local shop, in
over a year. Jed

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond to this - it's amazing how
quickly stuff gets buried around my work desk! The article on building
starship

decks is in the Star Wars Gamer issue 6, the second installment of the Model
Citizen feature by H. G. Walls. Last issue he showed how to build several Mos
Eisley type buildings, and this time it's the Docking Bay Control Room, the
Lift Tube Bank, and the Detention Block from the Death Star. I really
like his approach - it's definitely designed to be played with, rugged
and modular, but it looks great. Masonite, cardboard, plastic, lots of bits
and pieces, and simple tools, but he really has a knack for picking out the
key features of a scene and focussing on those, simplifying everything else.

The rest of the magazine is worth a look, also. This issue has a complete
Battle of Hoth board game with rules, map, and playing pieces, and last issue
had Silent Death stats for Star Wars fighters

Where can you get this magazine? I made up SD stats for the Star Wars fighters
myself, and I'm curious as to how they turned out in the magazine.

I got mine at my local game shop, but I've also seen it in Barnes & Noble, I
think. It's published by Wizards of the Coast, who do the Star Wars RPG. Jed
