Thanks, Adrian.

However, I think it's too big. I'm doing one more pass at it. I'm hoping to
get it down to 4 pages, which is about what an index should be.

I ask that everyone hold off until I get a chance to post the update...

I kicked this out to the GZG-pedia list a while back, and either it
isn't working right... or I'm not:). Either way, I never got any
feedback from it. I know it isn't _quite_ what this list is for, but if
anyone could take a gander at this and send me some feedback off list, I'd
appreciate it.

Greetings, This is my first foray on the list and was wondering if anyone
would care to give me some constructive feedback on a setting that has taken
shape from a Dirtside campaign that the group I play with has put together.

I know the dates are behind the official time line, but I figured that was
safer than trying to stay up with current events:)

Oh, and thanks in advance.

I'm still going to try to 'reverse engineer' a cheat sheet for turn structure
with page references to the book.

Maybe my lack of experience with SGII(only 4-5 games over a long damn
time) will let me give it a beginner's requirements. Or, such a muddled mess
that someone will be shamed into doing better.

Course, anyone holding their breath should know better than expecting flowers
at the internment ceremonies...

I wince every time I see "we seceded from the NAC" but this is actually pretty
reasonable. My main questions are:
--why did the Brazilian immigrants set up on a station instead of on an
unoccupied continent? I have reasons for that built into the Alarishi Empire
but we don't have any terraformable planets handy.
-- if Oporto Branco controls all the shipping in the system, why don't
they apply pressure to resolve things in their favor? If they feel like the
direct approach, they could just drop a rock. Or they could blockade, apply
tariffs, raise shipping fees, etc etc.

Just "in production" now.

I plan to give Tony a cruiser to work with next...

As it seems to be a bit slow at the moment, I think I'll throw something into
the hornet's nest.

Phased Array (the name doesn't really matter - I made it up after the
fact)

The basic concept of the weapon is something that has an INcreasing chance to
hit with range, but DEcreasing damage. Here's what I'm throwing into the
arena:

The weapon rolls to hit just like a P-Torp, but does a certain number
of dice damage, which are scored as beam dice. (i.e. For three dice
damage, results of [2-3-6-reroll of 4] would generate 3 points of
damage on an unscreened vessel.)

Range To Hit Damage
0-6 MU 6+ 6 "beam" dice
6-12 5+ 5 dice
12-18 4+ 4 dice
18-24 3+ 3 dice
24-30 2+ 2 dice

MASS 2, POINT COST 6, fires though 1 arc only.

For the statisticians in our audience...

Range Avg. Damage
0-6 MU 0.8
6-12 1.33
12-18 1.6
18-24 1.6
24-30 1.33

I left off the 30-36 range bracket since most seem to oppose any kind
of "automatic hit" with any weapon, though it would have finished off the bell
curve at 0.8

All some OT assistance.

I have a game board for a game that I d/led online and used Corel Draw
to
increase in size to allow the use of micro-machines. The problem is in
printing it I have a 9 x 5 sheet game board 45 8.5 x 11 inch pages. I want to
join them in such a way as the edges are seemless and still be able to carry
this thing around in a reasonable container.

If you have any ideas let me know.

Thanks for the time and sorry for the disruption, you folks are the biggest
brain trust with the possible skill set that I know of <G>

I have an excellent book on technical writing. In the section on indexes it
giv es some suggestions. A short index is about 2% of the text's size. An
encyclope dia type book may hit 10% to 20%. Average is 2% to 5%.

I've completed the index and about to update it on my website. It came out to
a bout 6 pages, or about 8.5% of the text's size. It's not a small index by
any m eans, but I think you'll find it thorough.

It was WAY over indexed, and not easy to use, before.

Interesting numbers, although I have to say, through my years of lots of
reading, I've encountered many insufficienct indexes, and can think of no time
that I ever actually felt an index was too large to use.
