After the discussion on 25mm/15mm scale, I got the impression that
figures for games like Warhammer 40K, Warzone, and VOR are probably too big
for either scale, am I correct? This is a shame, since a local game store has
a bunch of Warzone stuff on clearance, and I'd love to get into SG. In
addition, I saw a WH40K fig that would be perfect for SG - IF it fit to
scale. It's for a race called the Tau, and it's a Devilfish GEV APC. Looks
like it would make a great SG VTOL or light troop lander.
Also, I was wondering if anyone has seen the figs for B5 Gropos? I saw some,
and they looked a little too big for 6 mm (Of course, the Ral Partha
Battletech tank figs are too big for my use, I use stuff that's ablut
comparable to GHQ microarmour in scale). But the infantry fugs looked big
enough to use in a larger scale.

THought the Gropos game scale was supposed to be 10mm?? (I haven't been able
to keep up with this part of life lately, so I'm operating on quite
possibly out-dated information)

The Devilfish looks good with true 25mm figures, including SGII one's. And
some of hose old warzone figures look good, but they really are more the same
proportions as GW figures. Though no one says you have to by the figures for
the game (except GW of course).
> Also, I was wondering if anyone has seen the figs for B5 Gropos? I
And as far as I am aware the gropos range is scaled in 10mm.

I'm tempted to get some of the Mimbari tanks to use as spaceships - well
they do rather look like a certain craft from a current TV show :-)

They are a little over scale. They both use 28mm scale and GW stuff is
oversized for that. You can use them in 25mm but they look a bit odd when they
get close to true 25mm.

The Devilfish and it's variant the Hammerhead look fine in 25mm. I'm planning
on getting a Hammerhead myself.

The B5 stuff is 10mm. Too big for 6mm and too small for 15mm. Battle tech is
about 8mm so these will be bigger.
I use GW and other 28mm stuff for the bulk of my forces for SG. The only
"True 25mm" stuff I have is some old Grenadier/Ral Partha stuff from the
late 70s. Heck the Grenadier figs are almost just as big as my GW stuff
(!). I do have some Star Wars storm troopers but and they look a bit small,
but painted in white as they are, they don't look too small (IMHO).
Frankly, I prefer the larger 28mm scale figures. It just seems to me you can
get a lot more detail in the figure. I would drop to 15mm long before I
consider going into "true 25mm".
Just my two cents.
Also, as far as I know the Warzone line is still alive and can be bought on
the web at http://www.amazonfantasy.com The last I heard the Warzone
rules were in late "play test" for a new edition.
One of these days I will do a trencher force with some of the Bauhaus mounted
hussars for support. But, right now I have my eyes on a set of Vulkan
Battlesuits to convert into "Space Dwarf Battle Suits".

Oops, my bad.
Warzone can be bought on line at http://www.excelsior.cc/ and not
"Amazon". But, I think you can get Amazon figs at Excelsior... <g>

So are the Warzone figs OK for SG or not? You left me a bit unclear on that.

ALL figs are good for SGII, just not all together. Warzone, IMHO, work well
with Evil Empire(tm), but neither work well with GZG figs, unless they're the
Space Marines, buttoned up, which I think are apropos for power armor
next to GZG's un-armored.
HEAVY YMMV, of course.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I probably will get the Warzone figs, when I
can afford them. I like the capitol troops, as well as some of the (whatever
England is called in that game). I'll also continue to drool over the
Hammerhead and Devilfish. *sigh* I never realized how bad it could suck to not
work.
G'day,

Sure do!

I don't know I mix GW "sisters" with GZG "nuns" without any hassle and they
don't look weird - at least to me, but maybe I'm just warped ;)
Cheers

You can play SGII with any figures is what I was trying to say. Though you it
might look odd if you put a platoon of "Gentleman's Collectibles" on the
wargames table

Odd? That would depend on which figures you... deploy.

Oh I don't know my naked "close combat specialist" nun has always been
useful.... run her down the middle of the board, all heads follow her and the
rest of my nuns are free to do as they please... works a charm;)
The demonettes and gun-bunnies have also been usefully employed ;)

Well the nun comes out fairly regularly and she is tastefully done so the
fact she's naked has never phased our kids (my mother-in-law is a
different matter). Apart from that even Janneke (who "only uses girl figs
thank
you!")
won't use them as they're a bit light on armour and thus "rather silly to
bring to a fight mummy";)

Just to stun Laserlight (and despite my best Oggish inclinations) I'll let
that one go;)

Who are you and what have you done with "our" Beth, Alien Imposter? <grin>

You should get some 'selected' historical armies (28mm for effect) of nations
where clothing was considered heavy armor and tell her "..but historically,
it's what they wore in combat..."

If you play DBA/DBM, see the Lone Psiloi

Do you think I'm just going to hand my children material like that?! You never
know what new form it will return to you in... "Janneke put a jumper

"But Mummy the ancient Greeks only wore...."

Oh come on, I would love to see the picture of your mother's (or was it
mother-in-law?) face when her granddaughter dropped that line on her...
That would be even better then the picture of her face when you this is just a
'historically accurate' army.
Yes "Yank" is sometimes a synonym for S _ _ _ disturber...

I don't think any medium would be strong/brave enough to capture the
face of either grandmother should they be confronted with a response along
those lines;)
