I beleive if you read their notes, they say it is a Soviet BRDM in 1/35th and a 1/48th Israeli Merkava turret. Don't quote me on the scales though. > From: "Bell, Brian K (Contractor)" <Brian.Bell@dscc.dla.mil>

The body is a 1/35 scale Soviet BMP by Dragon, the turret is a merkava turret, from a 1/48 kit imported by Hobby Bounties. Mike you are correct. To quote the site "The turret is from a 1/48th
scale Israeli Merkava, imported by Hobby Bounties, with a barrel and secondary
armament from the Marbeth catalogue, and a scratch built
bustle. The hull is a 1/35th scale Soviet BMP by Dragon, with more
accessories by Marbeth and GZG."
I think Eli just did a typo :-)

Eli Arndt wrote in reply to Brian: > Can anyone identify the manufacturer/model used for the 1/35th and 1/48th are correct, Merkava is correct, but the hull is a BMP rather than a BRDM. It also has various other odds and ends stuck on, eg. the small "point defence" turret on top of the main one. BTW, recalling the discussion we had some months back about kitbashing SF vehicles from modern model kits, this is a *very* good example of why I don't do that: it's a very nice-looking model, but I and my normal opponents all identified the main bitz in less than five seconds, and we all know far too well how thin-skinned a BMP is to be able to think "heavy tank" when we see the Maus :-( Later,

Seems to me, that when it's a BMP that 'big' it mightm ake a difference. I thing that the BMP has the right hull shape for a hover tank and that's why it was chosen. Eli > but I and my

The issue for me comes down to what I *see* when they look at the kitbash. If
all I can see is a BMP with some other odds and ends added then I dislike it.
If on the otherhand I see a good looking vehicle, but with a little effort I
can see how they arrived at the kitbash I do not mind.
If you want to see some interesting Sci-Fi kit bashes go to:
http://www.starshipmodeler.com/
Look at their readers Gallery. Some of the spaceships and vehicles are great.
Of course some are not. Anyway, enjoy.

Casquilho, Daniel > The issue for me comes down to what I *see* when they look at Same here. I've seen too many real-world "let's put an MBT turret on an APC"-style vehicles - eg. the CV90105/CV90120, TAMSE and Centauro, and far too many BMPs (though unlike some of my opponents I haven't spent 6+ months crawling around *inside* BMP the Swedish Army's BMPs <g>) to not see the Maus as a BMP with some other odds and ends stuck on top. A couple of seconds is *too* little effort to see how they built it to me :-( As to what Eli said about a BMP hull that big, well - everyone knows, or should know, that size isn't important. It's what you do with it that matters :-/ Regards,
