My take.... 1) Light SAW firing rifle ammo (C9/M240/Minimi - SG2 ESU SAW) D8 FP, IMP D10 (rifle D10 impact too) 2) Std. SAW (LMG - NSL SAW, OUDF SAW) D10 FP, IMP D10 (rifle impact D10 too) - greater FP, more accuracy due to longer barrel and gyromount, higher ROF 3) Gauss LSAW (no model in mind) D10 FP, IMP D12 (higher ROF, Gauss Rifle impact) 4) Gauss SAW (NSL alternate SAW, NI SAW) D12 FP, IMP D12 5)HMG (Battletech Kurita HMG, etc) D12 FP (or 2d8), IMP 2d6 or 2d8 6) Minigun (Gatling SAW) D12 FP D10 IMP 7) Gatling HMG (tank tribarrel) D16 FP 2d6 or 2d8 assumptions: 1) Standard rifle rounds of larger calibers hit harder than smaller rounds, but smaller rounds penetrate further and since Impact models Penetration and Damage in one step, they are equivalent in the game though how they get the effect differs. Only reduced impact is for older, more obsolescent tech. 2) FP is a combination of ROF and accuracy as well as things like can the bullet be easily deflected, etc. HMG fires slower than the Gauss SAW, but actually is probably more accurate fired in bursts (Gunny Hathcock scored one of the longest sniper kills on record using a Sandbagged.50). It also is known to be a terrifying weapon to face as rounds from it ignore a lot of things that deflect lighter rounds. 3) In order to justify a 2d12 impact, I think a HAMR must be 15-20mm with some special ammo. I do not believe an HMG will have equivalent impact, though 2d6 or 2d8 are probably reasonable. HMGs should still menace PA. Possible alterations: D6 FP for light saw (either D8 or D6 work) D10 FP for HMG (it does fire slower than the gauss SAW) but then you should give 2d8 or D16 impact for sure I've found using the slimmed down SAWs makes modern OBs with 2 SAW per squad work a bit nicer (they aren't so dominating).
