Yes it is!

Never played it enough to find these bugs. Didn't they patch it? Have you
played terror from the deep and apocalypse? (sorry going OT here). If you were
doing an SG2 TBS (Turn Based Strategy) it would be a good starting point. RTS
(Real Timne Strategy) has however taken over from the old TBS games.

(rolls eyes) /several/ times. And it still wasn't 100% bug free.

Played Terror From The Deep. Basically it was done by a third party, the
original coders of XCOM/Ufo having moved onto other things. And it was
pants. All they did was change the graphics and muck about with a few things,
generally always to the detriment of game balance. For an example, In UFO you
started with a weapon that had a 24 (was it?) round clip, decent accuracy and
could auto fire and it was still hard at the beginning. The starting weapon in
TFTD had a 12 shot clip, no accuracy and couldn't autofire. Oh dear. My PC
wasn't (still isn't) up to Apocalypse. Plus RT strategy games aren't my thing.
I want a strategy game that taxes my mind, not my mouse skills.

I know. It's sad. But I still do 4 man fireteam games in SG much better for
having played UFO..

Very playable all the same. They took the copy protection off with the patch
so both Ufo and TFTD travel around with me on zipdisk. Amazing the quality of
some of these older games compared to more multimedia based stuff these days.

TFTD was essentially the same game but made harder and based on undewater
warfare. You used harpoons at the start of the game against the aliens and
later on sonic cannons.

Apocalypse could be played turn based but playing it in real time was much
better in many ways. Waching the bullets fly and your units dodge while you
dealt with the overall situation rather than micromanaging everything.

There is a new game coming out called Jagged Alliance 2 which is similar to
Xcom in style except that your teams are mercenaries trying to foment a
counter-revoloution in a small country. Its exclusively turn based.
Very good from what I've seen of it.

Where could you get little gray figures with those oversized guns for
aSG2/XCOM game?
That could be very entertaining.

Hopefully. Jagged Allience 1 seemed like a nice idea but the actual
implementation left a lot to be desired, IMHO. Btw: wouldn't that be JA3?
Wasn't "Deadly games" already part 2?

GZG has the "classic" aliens, but I don't know if any of them really come with
oversized guns.

Can we have one /pleeeeease/. Would fit into my Animouch campaign
perfectly that would, a Grey with a gun the size of a small family car...

GZG also amlkes the Mars Attacks aliens. I don't think GEOHEX has them tough
as I've looked through their catalog.

That 'Medical Probe' probably LOOKS like it's the size of a small family car
when it's pointed at you...

Atually, I made a bit of an error - we DO have a Grey with a BFOG (Big
F***
Off Gun...)! I'd forgotten about it because we've never cast any for sale yet!
We've just bought out the (small) Jenesis line, basically the few
Fantasy figs we've been listing for a while plus some other "odd" bits -
one of the latter is "Greybo", a caricatured steriod-abusing Grey alien
in
Rambo-style kit with a Big Gun (TM).... must get round to putting it in
the next update list! Let us know if you want one....:)
