I just bought 2 slightly understrength platoons: NAC Marines and NSE. I
figured this would be in keeping with the spirit of Canada.

I had to order them in -- and I got shorted 2 blisters. Out of stock. Oh
no!

By the time I paint the rest, they should be in. Right KR?

Has anyone else had problems with the Geohex resin stuff? The Gauntlet APC I
bought was so full of holes it took me 4 hours of work just to fill and
prepare for priming. Almost all the corners, etc were filled
with bubbles, and kind of a nightmare to fill/remake.

I realize that resin casting will produce bubbles. But other resin products I
have seen don't have nearly the same faults. The Gauntlet looked like someone
had taken shots at it with a 50cal.

Without exaggeration, I would have to say that there were at least 50 major
bubbles (that had to be filled) and at least 1000 minor ones (I couldn't face
filling these).

My Hoplite APC looks like it will take hours of work just to sand it to make
the parts fit together.

And by DSII dropships were so poorly cast that I had to rebuild the front
lower sections.

On the positive side, once you get them done they look great!

Has this happened to anyone else, or am I just cursed?

Happy fighting,

Paul

Well I know that the FT ships take a lot of work just to get them to fit
together.

My roommate painted his NAC platoon as the Toronto Scottish. One of the other
blokes in our group did the RCR...:) (Of course, to be different, I did the
2nd Scots Guard).

Give them a week or two. It happens.

Yeah, it is a mixed bag. I ordered a ton of stuff last year.
About 80% of the resin was OK, but a good 10-15% required some serious
work, as most resins do. One of the vehicles that I got (a Gauntlet as a
matter of fact) was *abismal* due to poorly unaligned molds. We just haked it
up and turned it into wreckage (waste not, want not).

Seriously, if your vehicle is that bad (and some of the resin
stuff can be), just contact KR and work out a replacement. Geo-Hex is
kool that way.

It is the type of resin they use. I believe they have since switched
materials. Some of the vehicles that I bought from them required almost No
work. Armorcast is like that; about 2 years ago, anything you bought from them
required MAJOR filling and work. These days, you can
paint their stuff right out of the bag/ box (well, you do have to soak
the stuff first).

You are NOT cursed.

Laterish!

Paul,

Why didn't you just send it back? We can't check every one of them from the
molder, and so many times our customers end up doing quality control for us.
We'll gladly send you a replacement for the one that was "shot full of
holes"!! I suspect the problem is the heat wave down here. Our molder has been
able to work only early morning or
late at night - the resin "kicks off" in the heat before he has a
chance to chase the mold (remove bubbles). We've gotten prices on both
pressure and vacuum equipment to remedy the situation, but until
we get to that point - please return ANY unacceptable items.
Everyone makes mistakes, but we make every attempt to correct them, you just
have to let us know.

KR, Geo-Hex
