Speaking of which - have you seen any of the "Chosen"
models from the GZG range (NN-10 and above)? I'm wondering
how they compare to the regular sisters and the older NNPC line that Eureka
carries.

Sounds reasonable to me. There should probably be some
sort of rules for pop-up attacks (reduce quality of the pop-up
unit by 1, maybe?) but I can't see any advantage for them in the current
rules.

G'day Mark,

> Speaking of which - have you seen any of the "Chosen"

Yep, got all those. VERY VERY nice! So much so that a another guy here is
talking about getting some just to have for display purposes. I kept to the
black and white habit theme for the fabric clothes their wearing, but did a
dark chain mail for their armour. With the gold crosses on top they look

very Templar Knightish.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

> but I can't see any advantage for them in the current rules.

Its more because I'm a "what you see is what you get gamer", if it ain't on
the figure then the trooper don't have it (puts my naked nun at a bit of a
disadvantage, but what the hey). On the other hand though I'm one for fairly
realistic terrain setups, which can have fairly severe implications if we're
playing to far from the prairie lands so to speak. Being able to just zoom
over the really sticky stuff could be very helpful on certain
occasions - it could also mean with their lack of cam or armour the nuns

become even bigger targets than ever;)

By the way further on the Nuns with Guns questions, have any of you guys

toyed much with elite troops (adding a few reds to the mix at quality
allocation time)? If so what have you found works best? We think we're getting
close to the right balance for the kind of flow we wanted (few greens,
occasional red, mostly blue and orange), but I'd be interested to hear what
others (Owen? Tom? anybody?) have found.

Cheers

Beth

Beth here's a thought from Starguard (30+ year old SF rules from John
McEwan [Reviresco] ) They use the concept of Star Ship Trooper - 'jumps
or hops as opposed to flight (although you can 'double jump ('fly') over two
turns: from edition 5, page 55: Hit Chance Modifiers (* = selected only those
touching jump jet movement)

+01% for each successive turn at a moving target
+05% for each successive turn at a stationary target
-02% for every inch of target movement
-03% for every inch moved by attacker

(here it is, sports fans!)
-25% if attacker in flight *

*only applies to jet belt equipped troops or robots, not vehicles or equipment
whose normal mode of locomotion is flying.

Um, I can't remember the website - search for 'tin soldier' IIRC.

Thanks for the pictures. Good paint jobs on them. I'm a bit bummed, though,
because those were not what I had in mind at all. Oh, well, I guess I'll have
to stick with what I have for now.

So what DID you have in mind, Mark? Let us know, and it'll all go into the
big melting pot from which figure designs emerge.... ;-)

Well, I already had some power armor (courtesy of the Evil Empire) so I didn't
need any more. Though the "Chosen"
will make a nice pioneer/assault squad if I ever decide to
flesh out the company organization. I think I was looking for some nuns that
looked a bit
more "blessed" - praying, kneeling, signing themselves, something
like that. Also, I was hoping for a "command" figure that I
could use as a Lt, so I could have a NN-04 as the Platoon SGT
and a different figure for the platoon commander. The "Chosen" nun won't work
for that (nor will Reaper's "Battle Nun Matriarch", worse luck). A little more
variety in the line wouldn't hurt at all, though I can understand if it's not
your top priority.
