Subject: SG II: Scenario idea
Well, Ive just finished converting my den into a full-blown game room. Ive built a 6x4 table that quickly and easily can become a 6x6 or 6x8 table. And all with the blessing of my girlfriend :-) Anyway, Im hosting a grand opening Saturday, July 8. Im planning a large Stargrunt II game to break the table in. Id like to get a little feedback about the scenario Im planning. Assault on Traders Corner: Our campaign resembles the Balkan conflict taken to an intergalactic level. A major offensive has been launched to take a strategically important mountain overlooking a vital trade route. The defender gets his choice of five of the following units (* indicates a unit which may be taken more than once) 1 Platoon of infantry (Three squads plus command squad) * 1 Platoon of vehicles (Three plus command vehicle) * 1 Section of power armor (Two squads, no command element) * 1 Platoon of towed guns (Four guns, placed in static positions) 1 Sniper (The position is of significant military value to make a sniper a worthwhile risk) 1 Forward observer element (One FO and two rifles) 3 Off-board artillery salvoes (Three-barrell rocket mortars) * In addition, the defender gets 1d6 mines (his choice of type) and 1d6 dummy counters. The attacker gets his choice of 10 of the following units (* indicates a unit which may be taken more than once) 1 Platoon of infantry (Three squads plus command squad) * 1 Platoon of vehicles (Three plus command vehicle) * 1 Section of power armor (Two squads, no command element, can be orbitally inserted)) * 1 Section of assault infantry (paradrop infantry) 1 Forward observer element (One FO and two rifles) 3 Off-board artillery salvoes (Three-barrell rocket mortars) * The mountain sits in one corner of the table and backs up to a lake. Two roads meet at the base of the mountain, making it an easy place to set ambushes and disrupt supply convoys and trade. The attackers goal is to take the mountain ridge by killing the defenders troops or breaking them, taking them prisoner or forcing them to flee. What do you think? Are there enough choices to make it a difficult tactical decision about what forces to bring? Are there any obvious forces Im missing? Thanks for any help you can offer,
